The Jacksonville Humane Society is proud to offer field trips for students in all grades, K-12. Field trips are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Groups must have a minimum of 10 students. Groups are permitted to bring less than 10 students if the minimum payment for a group of 10 students is met based on package pricing.
The following packages are available:
Package 1:
Length: 1 hour
Includes an orientation to JHS with Q&A time, tour of the JHS Adoption Center, and tour of the JHS Hospital (for grades 2 and up only). Students may be able to meet a cat or dog depending on availability at the shelter.
Maximum Students: 30
Provided: Weekdays beginning at 10:00, 10:30, or 11 a.m.
Cost: $10/student (no charge for adults)
Package 2:
Length: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Includes an orientation to JHS with Q&A time, tour of the JHS Adoption Center, and tour of the JHS Hospital (for grades 2 and up only). Students may be able to meet a cat or dog depending on availability at the shelter.
At end of tour, students will be allowed to read to the cats and dogs as part of our Pawsitive Reading enrichment program. Students may bring a book to read or borrow one from our library.
Maximum Students: 30
Provided: Weekdays beginning at 10 or 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $15/student (no charge for adults)
Note: JHS is an animal shelter and, as such, cannot guarantee that an animal suitable for interaction will be available. All efforts will be made but student interaction with a dog or cat is never guaranteed. Hospital tours are also not guaranteed, as there may be procedures taking place at the time of the field trip that would prohibit groups of children from entering.
We receive many requests for Scout troops and other groups to visit in the afternoon and on weekends. We are unable to provide tours to groups at these times.
