LOS GATOS COMMUNITY AQUATICS CENTER POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Lifeguards are required for any pool use
- Renters must comply with all applicable LGS Recreation policies and procedures.
- Rentals will be cancelled for inclement weather if, at the sole discretion of the Aquatics Coordinator/Head Lifeguard, it is raining hard enough to impact the ability of the guards to see the bottom of the pool or if lightning is continually striking in the area. No refunds are issued if, on the day of the event, the Applicant decides to cancel early if these circumstances do not apply; however, each rental will be reviewed on an individual basis.
- All rules and regulations listed at the pool must be followed. Renter is responsible for the behavior of any swimmers and guests.
- Glass containers of any type are prohibited.
- No running on swimming pool grounds.
- No throwing of any objects on pool grounds or in the water.
- No abusive behavior or language.
- Renter must assist lifeguards in removal and installation of lane lines if requested as part of their use.
- Guests must obey all pool rules and follow the directions of lifeguards and staff at all times.
- No one may enter the pool without a lifeguard present.
- All swimmers must shower before entering the pool and must wear proper swim attire. T-shirts may be worn over a bathing suit.
- Children 5 years old and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult or sibling (at least 12 years or older). The adult or sibling must be within arm's reach of the child at all times.
- Children 6-12 years old must have a supervising parent/guarding on deck unless they are attending a registered class or program.
- Children wearing lifejackets must remain in the shallow end of the pool, unless the child is participating in a swim lesson or has a parent/guardian within arm's reach in the 25y pool.
- Only Coast Guard approved lifejackets are permitted.
- No inflatable, personal floatation devices are permitted.
- Pool noodles and rafts/tubes are not permitted as they obstruct the view of lifeguards.
- Animals shall not be permitted in the public pool or except as provided in Civil Code sections 54, 54.1, and 54.2 (service animals).
- No running on the pool deck and in the locker rooms.
- Guests wishing to use the diving boards or swim in the deep end must be able to pass a swim test (25 yards unassisted without touching lane line or pool wall).
- No one will be permitted in guard chairs except certified lifeguards on staff.
- No swinging or hanging on ropes, rails and lane lines.
- No horseplay - including dunking, pushing or pulling others.
- No sitting or standing on other people’s shoulders or hanging on fellow swimmers.
- No falling/jumping backwards into the pool, this can cause injury to yourself and/or others.
- Food and/or drinks must remain on bleachers.
Prolonged underwater swimming or breath holding is prohibited.
- No glass containers.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
- Children not bathroom trained must wear disposable swim diapers.
- No smoking is allowed anywhere in or around the facility.
- No swimming under the bulkhead and/or pool covers.
- Third party group/private swim lessons are not permitted.
- All skateboards, bikes and scooters must be walked while on deck.
- LGS Recreation assumes no liability for the loss or theft of a guest’s personal belongings.
- The Head Lifeguard or Aquatics Coordinator may close the entire pool facility, or any portions of the pool for any safety or maintenance reason.
LOS GATOS COMMUNITY AQUATICS CENTER POOL DIVING RULES
- No diving in shallow areas.
- All patrons wishing to use the diving boards must pass a swim test (25 yards unassisted).
- No goggles allowed on diving boards.
- Only one person on the board at a time.
- Divers cannot step on the board until the previous person reaches the appropriate ladder.
- Front flips (1-meter boards only), jumps, and dives only. NO BACKFLIPS OR GAINERS.
- Only one bounce on the board.
- No sitting or handstands allowed on the boards.
- The fulcrum is to remain in the forward position at all times.
Exit the diving area using the appropriate ladder promptly after jumping off the board.
- No swimming in designated diving well area (swim instructors exempt during swim lessons).
- No jumping off the sides of the diving board. Guests must jump straight forward off the board.
- No one may catch or assist someone off the board (swim instructors exempt during swim lessons).
