Dear Lifeguard/Potential Lifeguard,
The deadline for all required documents is April 1, 2024, and all drug tests must be completed by May 1, 2024. Please Note: You can only complete your drug test after receiving the test packet from the Parks and Recreation Department.
All of the following documents are to be submitted on or before April 1, 2024 (NO EXCEPTIONS):
A Completed City of Stamford Employment Packet with ALL Supporting Documents
Make sure to ensure you have:
1 document from LIST A OR 1 from LIST B AND 1 from LIST C
Drug Test Date – Date You [The Applicant] Scheduled
Payment for ANY Certification or Recertification Course
Everyone must have a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Waterfront Certification, including First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuers with AED skills. Classes can be taken through the City of Stamford Department of Parks and Recreation.
Available Classes:
April 9th-11th 5:30pm- 9:00pm each day
May 14th-16th 5:30pm- 9:00pm each day
All Lifeguards must pass a 550-yard swim test, run, and show you are proficient in CPR/AED/First Aid Skills at orientation.
The Summer 2024 orientation dates are to be determined. Please note the City of Stamford Department of Parks and Recreation will notify you at least two weeks in advance of any mandatory meetings. Additionally, guarding will begin Memorial Day weekend and continue through Labor Day weekend.
All City of Stamford Employees are expected to adhere to Department guidelines outlined in the Lifeguard Manual. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to suspension and/or termination as seen fit by Department Supervisors.
