Charisma School of Dance
2024 – 2025 Company Dance Team Contract
Dancers who are auditioning for Company Dance Team need to make sure they have good attendance, do every routine full out, are in dress code, and have a positive and respectful attitude. We will consider this every year as a dancer has to reaudition for the next season.
Company Dance Contract
All Company Dance Team dancers will be required to sign this Company Dance Team Contract by September 15, 2024.
Company Fee
Charisma charges an annual $150 Company fee to each dancer (not per class, just one time for the season). This fee will be charged to your credit card on file on September 15, 2024.
Competition Fees
Charisma attends two regional competitions per year.
You will find the dates that the competition fees are due in the “Year at a Glance.” After that date, a late fee of $50 will be added per routine. The competition requires us to register and pay for all dancers at one time. Charisma is billed a late registration fee for each routine after their deadline date.
The approximate costs for each routine for each competition:
Solos usually range from $115 to $175 per solo
Duos/Trios usually range from $65 to $95 per dancer
Groups usually range from $60 to $80 per dancer
Charisma will provide a link by email to complete for information needed to register your dancer. Fees are paid either by cash or check to Charisma School of Dance. If a credit card is used for payment, there will be an additional 4% fee.
Private Lesson Fees
Private lessons are $35 for one half hour and $70 for an hour. The fees are due at the time of booking. Fees are paid directly to the instructor. If Ms. Erin is the instructor, we can charge your credit card on file.
Costumes
Costumes for each routine range from $100 to $150.
All costumes for solos, duos, and trios must be approved by the teacher and the director. Please obtain approval prior to adding stones or other accessories to any costume.
Charisma Jackets
It is mandatory to have a Charisma bling jacket. Charisma jackets are to be worn to all competitions, performances, or any event where Charisma is represented.
Jacket: $150 plus tax
Black Dance Pants
Black dance pants are to be worn on stage during award ceremonies along with Charisma jackets. On stage the dancers need to wear dance shoes or athletic shoes. No flip flops or slides.
Nude leotards are great under costumes and for quick changes while keeping covered. They range between $25-$50.
Earrings
Company earrings are $15 plus tax. They come in pierced or clip on.
Stones
To enhance the look of a costume sometimes stones are added. There is usually a small fee for the stones to be put on.
Props
Some dances may have props. The cost of the prop would be split amongst the parents unless it is a small prop where everyone can purchase their own.
Absences
Dancers are allowed 4 absences for each company class for the entire season. Please remind your dancers that they should save these absences for when they are sick and not to use them for parties, time with friends, or other extra-curricular activities. On the 5th absence they will be dropped from the class with no refund.
Yearly Performances
- September, Western Washington State Fair
- December, Festival of Trees, Lakewood Tree Lighting Ceremony and Charisma’s Holiday Extravaganza (The Nutcracker specialty parts will be selected by the instructors and director)
- March/April/May Dance Competitions
- June Recital
We also have several community performances that come up during the year. These are not mandatory. We will have a sign-up sheet for those wanting to perform in the community. Community performances are a great way to earn community hours for school.
Company Dancer Volunteer Hours
Each Company Dance Team member is required to donate 4 hours to the studio. Ms. Erin will notify the dancers of the different opportunities. Examples would be vendor shows, promotional events, or studio fundraising events.
Commitment
Please remember to discuss the Company Dance Team time commitment and financial commitment with your family to ensure everyone is on board with the requirements and costs.
Etiquette
We pride ourselves on a positive and encouraging environment. We expect this studio core value to be carried out by our dancers, parents, staff, and volunteers at performances, competitions, community events, and at the studio. A reminder that our dancers and families are representing Charisma’s name wherever they go, especially when wearing Charisma attire. Please keep all comments positive, encouraging, and appropriate.
Addressing Our Instructors
Please remember to address our instructors as “Ms. or Mr.” when speaking to them in front of the dancers.
Please also remind your dancers when texting Ms. Erin or any of our staff/instructors to begin their text with, “Hi, Ms Erin” rather than just “Hey” or no hello at all. We are training all our dancers for the professional dance world whether they choose that route or not. It is imperative that we instill the professional dance etiquette from very early on so they have the tools to be successful.
Contacting Ms. Erin/Instructors Directly
Please take into consideration that Ms. Erin and the Charisma instructors have many things to juggle all at once with careers, school, and life commitments. We ask that you limit your texting and phone calls to the hours of 8am – 9pm. They are all so dedicated to the dancers that they will respond at all hours of the day/night, but often times your texts wake them up. We appreciate your consideration, especially around performance and recital time as they are incredibly busy answering many questions per day.
A good reminder is to check the Year At a Glance and other handouts that are provided throughout the year as these answer many of the questions that come up. These are also available on the Charisma website.
Role models
Dance teaches many valuable life lessons. Teaching our dancers to be early to stretch and to be prepared for their lesson is very important as well as teaching time management and to take responsibility for themselves. Our younger dancers look up to the Company Dance Team members so please remind them to always mind their manners and their comments. They are role models to our other dancers and are representatives of Charisma’s values.
Dance Lessons and Master Classes Outside of Charisma
Charisma Company Dance Team members are not allowed to study at other dance studios during their contract year. If a dancer is interested in a master class or an intensive, they must obtain written permission from Ms. Erin. Company dance classes and technique classes should take precedence over other extracurricular activities. It is extremely important that dancers are in attendance for class and work diligently for the benefit of the team.
Annual Auditions and Summer Requirements
Auditions are held annually in May/June for our Company Dance Teams. All existing Company Dance Team members must audition annually and are not guaranteed placement for future years.
Our summer session is mandatory for all Company Team members. Our dancers are similar to athletes. It is not beneficial to their bodies to train for 10 months and then take 2 months off. We see great growth and improvement over the summer with our dancers attending the summer course.
If dancer makes a Ballet Company Team, they will need to take ballet camp.
If dancer makes a Jazz Company Team, they will need to take a ballet camp and jazz class.
If dancer makes a Tap Company Team, they will need to take a ballet and tap class.
If dancer makes a Hip Hop Company Team, they will need to take a hip hop class only.
If dancer makes a Lyrical Company Team, they will need to take ballet camp and a lyrical class.
