    Cancelof
  • II. Parent Contact Details

  • III. Communication

All choir parents need to be in the St. Anne Sacred Music Flocknote group in order to receive important communications. If a student in high school or junior high has his/her own email, they may also receive Flocknote communication with parental permission.
  • Steps to access your Flocknote account:

    1. Go to stanneaz.flocknote.com

    2. Follow the prompts to access your account via email login button or set up a password. If you receive Flocknote communications to your email already, be sure to log in with that same email address.

    3. On the next screen, you may see multiple organizations listed. If so, click “St. Anne Roman Catholic Parish”.

    4. You will be taken to a prompt inviting you to check out groups in this parish,  or to a home page where you can click “Groups”.

    5. Scroll down the list to the LITURGY & MUSIC category and find "St. Anne Sacred Music", then the green "Join" button.

    6. Find the sub group for your child(ren)'s specific schola(s) and request to join. This is important as most communication is sent to specific classes.

  • IV. Choir Schedule/Calendar

    Details for each age group
  • Mandatory meeting for all choir parents: Saturday, September 16th from 1:30-3:00pm in the parish hall.

Note: Each choir has its own Google calendar with all rehearsals, Masses, and events. You will receive a printed master calendar at the parent meeting.

Note: As of 9/06/23, Schola Animae for grades 2-8 is full. You may email claireh@stanneaz.org to be placed on a waiting list.

Schola Animae ("Life of the soul") is for Grade 2 (mature students who are comfortably reading) through grade 8. This is a treble choir, so junior high boys with changed voices may be eligible for Schola Laetitiae at the director's placement. Mature 8th graders (boys or girls) may be admitted to the high school schola at the director's discretion. Students receive foundational training in healthy singing, understanding of sacred texts and Gregorian chant, basic music theory, and introduction to harmonies.

    • Mandatory boot camp kickoff Sat, Sept 30th from 11am-3pm.
    • Weekly classes (rehearsals) Mondays 4:00-5:15pm, beginning Oct 2nd.
    • For the Fall semester, Schola Animae will sing for 9am Mass once a month (Oct-Dec).
    • Pueri Cantores Regional Choir Festival Sat, Feb 10th (all day) at St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix (mandatory for grades 4-8, though mature 2nd & 3rd students may be eligible).

Schola Laetitiae ("Joy of the Lord") high school choir is for teens age 13-19 (mature 8th graders admitted by director's discretion). This is a mixed-voice choir for upper and lower voices, with a focus on guiding students through vocal changes experienced during the teen years and nourishing a maturing prayer life. Students are supported to understand and navigate their voices, grow in music theory and sightsinging (modern notation and chant notation), and develop 2-4 part harmony.

    • Mandatory boot camp kickoff Sat, Sept 23rd from 11am-3pm.
    • Weekly classes (rehearsals) Thursdays 4:00-5:45pm, beginning Sept 28th.
    • For the Fall semester, Schola Laetitiae will sing for 9am Mass once a month (Oct-Dec), alternating with Schola Animae and an adult choir.
    • Potential Choir Trip to Salt Lake City Cathedral High School Choir Festival: Thursday 2/22/24-Saturday 2/24/24

  • V. Understanding of Protocols & Expectations

    • Note for Regina Caeli Academy Families: Parent supervisor(s) needed for the break time between dismissal of RCA and start of choir. RCA parents should plan to discuss this at the choir parent meeting.
    • Safety Protocols: I understand that the safety of youth choristers is a priority and that protocols for dropoff and pickup will be discussed at the choir parent meeting (see section VIII).
    • Attendance: I understand that consistent weekly attendance is expected of all students, and that it is not beneficial for my child or for fellow students for him/her to miss without good cause. Any occasional absences should be communicated with the director in advance with a request for excusal.
    • Arrival & Promptness (Rehearsals): Sign-in begins 15 min prior to the start of rehearsal time. Students are expected to be seated and ready in the San Juan Diego Chapel (rehearsal room) at the class start time. I understand the need to plan extra time for parking, bathroom, etc., and that being present for the full session helps my child be able to focus and enjoy the class.
    • Arrival & Promptness (Masses/Events): I understand that normal arrival "call time" before singing for Mass is 45 minutes prior to the Liturgy start time. Choristers should report to the JPII Conference Room to warm up for Sunday morning Masses.
    • Sickness: If my child runs a fever or shows symptoms of cold/flu, I understand to keep him/her home and will email a notice to claireh@stanneaz.org.
    • Choir Binders/Folders: I understand that my child will receive a choir binder or folder (corresponding to his/her unique choriser number) which he/she is expected to bring to every rehearsal and Mass/event. We are responsible for keeping the binder/folder and contents in good condition and returning it at the end of each semester. Lost or damaged binders are subject to a replacement fee.
    • Smartphones: To minimize distraction, choristers who have smartphones will be expected to turn them in when entering rehearsal and claim them at the end of rehearsal.

    Singers' attitudes:

    • I sing for Mass to worship Jesus. The spotlight is on Him, not me.
    • God deserves our best. I take what I did yesterday, and improve on it today.
    • I am a good teammate. I encourage and don't compete with my fellow students.
    • I offer the gift of my voice with love and reverence for God and His people.
  • VI. Parental Permission

  • General Permission and Liability Release: I hereby give permission for my child(ren) to participate in St. Anne Youth Choirs. I hereby release and indemnify Saint Anne Roman Catholic Parish, its staff, volunteers, and the Diocese of Phoenix from any and all liability arising from claims of any kind whatsoever from my child's participation in this activity. I understand that my child(ren) is/are responsible for observing certain regulations and behavioral expectations while taking part in this activity.

Photo/Video Release: I give permission for my child(ren) to be included in photographs and/or video of the choir and shared publicly via the parish website, social media, newspaper, etc. I understand that choristers in photos are usually not identified by name, and that I would be contacted for separate permission regarding usage that includes identification of subjects.

  • VII. Fees

Our Pastor, Fr. Keith, has determined that no enrollment fees will be required to participate in St. Anne's liturgical music program. Sacred music is for the glory of God and the sanctification and edification of the faithful (SC26). As a family of families, we would do well to support our spiritual home, sharing our time, talent, and treasure.
  • There are uniform fees (purchased though St. Anne) for each chorister. Uniform information is on Form B.

Event fees: Schola Animae students in grade 4-8 are expected to participate in the American Federation Pueri Cantores Festival as outlined in section IV. This includes a $25 event fee. Please bring a check (payable to St. Anne with "AFPC" in the memo) or cash in a marked envelope to the parent meeting.

Trip fees: Schola Laetitiae has the opportunity to take a weekend choir trip to Salt Lake City Cathedral, which would include travel and event fees. This will be discussed further at the parent meeting.

  • VIII. Volunteer Needs

  • All volunteers in any parish ministry or program need to be current with Safe Environment Requirements per the Diocese of Phoenix. With any questions about this, contact set@stanneaz.org.

Note: Foundations digital course and online renewal for 2023-24 are both available at phoenix.cmgconnect.org. If you have take Foundations in the past but have not yet done the renewal for this school year, it only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

All choir parents are asked to support the good of your children and our parish by committing to at least one of these specific areas of help:
