Scholarship Guidelines

Deadline for scholarship applications is November 30th, 2024.

The Celtic Arts Foundation is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for Winter School 2025. If you are in need of financial assistance to attend, we hope you will apply for a scholarship using the following form. Please read the following guidelines before applying for a scholarship to Winter School:

Scholarships cannot be awarded to the same student, for the same instrument in consecutive years.
Scholarships may not be transferred - they may only be used by student to whom CAF awarded it, and must be used in the year that they are awarded. Unused scholarships are forfeited.
Celtic Arts Foundation reserves the right to disqualify an application from any scholarship consideration and the award of every scholarship is at the sole discretion of Celtic Arts Foundation. If, in the opinion of Celtic Arts Foundation, the applicant fails to complete the application, such application will be automatically disqualified for any scholarship consideration. All scholarships awarded must be used in the year they are awarded.

Scholarship Amount - Unless otherwise indicated, scholarship awards from CAF and other organizations apply to instruction costs only, and may not be applied to portions of meals and/or lodging costs (i.e., scholarship recipients receiving a 5-day scholarship for instruction may not attend a weekend workshop and apply "remaining" award to weekend charges for lodging and meals).

Letter of Reference - Your application should include a letter of reference of not more than one page in length supporting the application. This reference letter could be written by someone familiar with the applicant's playing, i.e., piping or drumming instructor, fiddle instructor, a venue owner or manager who has heard applicant play, but not a parent, relative, or partner. A co-band member would be acceptable - looking for input on applicant's passion about and commitment to their respective instrument and Celtic music in general.

Deadline and Notification - Scholarship applications must be completed and submitted here by November 30th. Recipients will be notified by December 14th.
