  • Surrender Request Form

  • In order for SDCH to review your surrender request, we first need to discuss your pet directly on 9587 9611. If you have not spoken to our team please do not proceed with this form, instead please give us a call to discuss.

  • We are a charity council pound, accepting lost and stray animals from local councils. In order to accept private surrenders we have a few steps to go through to ensure we have capacity to assist.

Please provide as much information as you can - this will help our team consider your case!

  • Surrender Fees

We rely on donations to keep our doors open and care for the thousands of animals we take in every year.

In order to accept a private surrender we need to ask owners to pay a fee. This allows us to provide care, food, treatments and surgery for your furry friend.

We wish we were in a position to help all pets without surrender fees, but if we don’t charge fees to cover our costs then we wouldn’t be able to continue caring for the animals already in our care.

    Desexed cats: $200
    Non-Desexed cats: $350
    Desexed dogs: $300
    Non-Desexed dogs: $450

    Senior/Breed specific bloodwork: $125

When you bring in your pet for a vet assessment, we will need to have a chat about their health and behaviour to find them the right home.

If there are any health conditions which require vet treatment, we ask that owners cover the costs – we do understand that this can be significant, however without asking for this payment we’d have to shut down.

  • Once you have submitted this request our team will need to assess capacity and rehoming suitability with management, then we will be in touch in order to arrange a vet assessment.

Please note: Attending a vet assessment appointment is not confirmation we will be able to take your pet into our care, either on the day or moving forward. This is an initial examination to assess suitability.
