This year's theme is The Masque of the Red Death, based on the short story by Edgar Allan Poe. If you're not familiar with the story, you can read, or have it read to you on Carnival Noir's homepage: CarnivalNoir.ca
If you were unable to join us for last year's Carnival Noir, we entertained a sold-out house of over 300 masked guests with performances, characters, food, decor, and games. In similar fashion to last year, on November 9th we will transform the Scarehouse Windsor into Prince Prospero's Gothic-era castellated abbey, rich with glare and glitter, piquancy and phantasm. We aim this year for bigger and grander--there will be much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the bizarre, something of the terrible, and not a little of that which will make the night unforgettable.
Actors, Characters, Set Builders, Costume Makers, and Volunteers:
This year, we are looking for a mix of different talent. We will be hosting continuous virtual casting calls until the event. Compensation will be based on role and experience. Volunteers will be gifted a plus one ticket should they opt to work the entire night, or may work 3 of the 6 hours and enjoy the party for the other half as a comped guest--though we do require you stay in character for the duration so as not to break immersion for our guests. Staff from last year will still need to apply to be considered for roles. Roles are awarded on merit and performance at the auditions.
We are also accepting applications for the management roles of Set Design Manager, and two Marketing Positions. These roles are part of the Leadership Team of Carnival Noir and are being interviewed for separately. Qualified and interested candidates may submit their resumes & CVs to our Event Manger Lexy Baksi at lexy@velvetedge.ca
