• Acceptable Internet & E-Mail Use Policy Truro Central School

  • The Internet is a network of electronic communications providing a variety of resources to the teachers and students of Truro Central School. Our goal in providing this service is to promote educational excellence through communication and sharing of information.

Because of the vastness and freedom of the Internet, there is material which may be available to students which may not be considered educational in the school setting and which may not be suitable for school-aged children. Children will therefore, be supervised with directed guidance from the faculty. Student access to the Internet will be available under teacher direction and monitored as any other classroom activity. However, it is impossible to control all materials on a global network, and inappropriate information may be encountered. Students are expected to report inappropriate communications and leave such areas of the network.

The Internet is a privilege, increasingly essential to learning that offers new freedoms and demands new responsibilities. Guidelines for use are practical and logical extensions of our community’s commitment to conduct that is legal, responsible, ethical, and considerate (thoughtfully respectful to others If these provisions are violated, his or her use may be terminated and future access may be denied.

Students agree that their Internet computer use:

Persistent annoyance of another user or interfering in another user’s work is harassment and may result in loss of network use. 9. School administrators will make the final determination of unacceptable use and their decision is final. 10. I have discussed this policy with my child. We understand and agree to follow these guidelines. We understand that any violation may result in revocation, disciplinary action and/or appropriate legal action. I further stipulate that I will not hold the school responsible for inappropriate use by a student.
