OVERVIEW
The Youth Transitional Services Instructor is an energetic and passionate instructor. Ideal candidates possess a strong teaching ability and a belief in the capacity of persons with disabilities. The Youth Transitional Services Instructor must be a mentor and positive role model who is eager to support youth/young adults ("participants") who are ready to enter the workforce. The Youth Transitional Services Instructor provides participants with the tools and skills needed to make good work-related decisions and build successful careers. They engage participants in learning activities that offer participants a chance to understand the realities of the job market and develop the concrete skill sets required of most, if not all, workers.
Participants of the Transitional Service program receive job readiness training followed by career exploration opportunities.
CORE DUTIES
Teaches employment and independent living skills and devises methods and techniques that will motivate and help participants to achieve independence and self-sufficiency.
Facilitate weekly job readiness training at an affiliate school, recreation site, public library or other business space. Training includes goal setting, financial literacy, customer service, resume building and interview preparation.
Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills. Demonstrate a positive attitude and show resilience when faced with challenging behavior or high stress situations.
Organize activities and lesson plans for training. Update the job readiness training as needed to meet the unique needs of the participants.
Execute and support the planning and delivery of a diverse program that meets the needs of each participant.
Support and challenge participants of varying levels of ability.
Collect, organize, and maintain documentation of participant’s progress; Prepare summary reports as needed for senior management.
Provide assistance and guidance in helping participants discover their motivation, desired career path, and help develop their skills.
Counsel participants on fine-tuning work habits/skills in preparation for a competitive job market.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A valid Driver’s License (Must be presented at time of interview)
Ability to pass a Level 2 background check (A successful background check is required prior to new staff onboarding)
Fours years' experience wrking wih youth and/or persons with disabilites OR Associate degree from an accredied college or university; plus two years’ related experience as described above OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as education, counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, human resources, or business, from an accredited college or university; plus one year's experience as described above OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field as described above; plus six months’ experience as described above
