Thank you for your interest in applying to serve on the 8th Judicial District Crime Victim Compensation Board. This Board is made up of three volunteer community members who meet monthly to review claims for victim compensation eligibility. In order to be considered for appointment, the following considerations must be made: - The District Attorney shall consider for appointment to the Board only those individuals who are not employed by the District Attorney or the Judicial Department within the 8th district. - The District Attorney shall consider for appointment to the Board only those individuals who currently reside within the 8th Judicial District. - The District Attorney shall not consider any attorney actively practicing law in the criminal court of the judicial district for appointment to the Board. - The Crime Victim Compensation Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30AM. Board meetings last between one and three hours.  - Board documents are to be reviewed prior to the Board meeting, in the three days leading up to the Board meeting. Meeting preparation may last anywhere from 6-16 hours, depending on the number of claims received. - Board members must be able to review information (to include police reports, mental health records, medical records, victim narratives, etc.) that is highly sensitive and sometimes disturbing. Vicarious trauma may occur. - All information reviewed by a Board member is highly confidential and protected by statute. Information cannot be shared with any outside persons. - Colorado state statutes and local 8th judicial district policies and procedures must be learned and memorized to accurately process claims. - Attendance is mandatory at all Board meetings, with little exception being made. This is due to the small size of the Crime Victim Compensation Board and the need for a quorum with meaningful discussion. - Term commitment is three years, with the ability to serve a second three year term. - This is an unpaid Board position. - Applications will be reviewed by the District Attorney and Crime Victim Compensation Administrator. The District Attorney will make an appointment based on the guidelines in place and qualifications of the candidate. Deadline is Tuesday, June 15th at 11:59PM
