Grooming is more than just making your dog look good, it's also vital to the health and well-being of your pet. Bathing and grooming animals is much different than cutting a human's hair. Dogs bark, move around, nip, and can become timid and overly anxious. Our number one priority is the health and safety of your trusted companion. Please review the following policies:
1. Safety
Safety comes first for everyone during the grooming process for both the groomer and your pet. Not all pets are accepting of the grooming process. Muzzling will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and groomer. David Mobile Pet Grooming reserves the right to muzzle pets who pose a safety issue, has the right to cease the grooming process when the situation becomes too stressful and/or dangerous for pet and groomer. It is the customer's responsibility to inform Starburst Spa Mobile Pet Grooming staff of any known past aggression issues, large or small. If your pet becomes overly aggressive or bites at any time during the grooming process, we have the right to stop service for safety purposes. The non-refundable will be held.
2. Vaccines
We require every adult pet under the age of 7 to be current on their rabies, distemper, and parvo-virus vaccines and for all puppies to have started their vaccine series. Please have the vaccination record with you on the first visit so we can record the information in your pet's record. By signing this agreement, owners verify that their pet(s) are current on rabies, distemper, and parvovirus.
3. Matting
There is an additional $40.00 fee for severely matted pets. Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Prevention is the best defense against matting by consistently grooming, including brushing, and combing regularly at home, and/or scheduling "brushout" appointments in between grooms. Removing a matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts, or abrasions due to warts, moles, or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus, or bacteria to grow, revealing skin irritations that exist prior to the grooming process. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations, abrasions and/or wounds and failure of hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should either have sunscreen applied daily or should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. De-matting can be painful for your dog and is unpleasant for both dog and groomer alike. After the de-matting process, you should be able to maintain the dog's coat between grooming appointments. David Mobile Dog Grooming has the right to refuse services if a pet needs to be referred to a veterinarian.
4. Senior Pets and Underlying Conditions
Grooming procedures sometimes can be stressful, especially for a senior pet or a pet with health problems. Grooming may expose hidden medical conditions or aggravate existing ones during or after the grooming process. Because senior pets and pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. David Mobile Dog Grooming will not be responsible for accident or injury to an elderly or health compromised pet during their grooming process. We reserve the right to stop the grooming process at any time if we feel it is in the best interest of your pet.
5. Double-Coated Dogs
Shaving a heavily coated pet during the summer is not recommended. In both hot and cold weather, a pet's coat helps regulate body temperature and provides insulation and protection from the sun. Coats that are shaved off, particularly on double coated dogs such as Huskies and Shepherds may grow back dull, patchy, or not at all. If you are looking to cut back on shedding or keep your pet cool, the best course of action is frequent bathing to allow air to move freely within your pet's coat and use of a good deshed program.
6. Flea and Ticks
We will charge $40.00 extra for the medicated shampoo. If your pet has a flea or tick infestation we will not be able to perform services. We will ask you to take your pet to the veterinarian to seek medical attention. We will reschedule your appointment when your pet is free of fleas and or ticks.
7. Ear Infection and Anal Glands
If ear infection is suspected, it is the owner's responsibility to seek veterinary care. David Mobile Dog Grooming will inform if infection is suspected. David Mobile Dog Grooming only does mild external expression for anal glands and makes no guarantees that anal glands will not become overfull, rupture, or become infected between grooming visits as results vary for each pet. Pets with chronic anal gland issues should be expressed by a veterinarian. Veterinarians are able to express the glands internally.
8. Appointments and Non-Refundable Deposits
When you book an appointment with David Mobile Dog Grooming you are reserving a time slot that is no longer available to other clients. We kindly ask that you provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Late cancellations are considered any appointment canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
For existing clients, a $50 cancellation fee will be charged for appointments canceled without the required 48-hour notice.
For new clients, the $50 non-refundable deposit will be forfeited for late cancellations or no-shows. Deposits are applied toward the final service total once the appointment is completed.
A no-show is defined as missing an appointment without notice, or if the groomer arrives at the scheduled appointment location and no one is present. In these cases, 50% of the total scheduled service cost will be charged to the card on file.
If an appointment is rescheduled with proper notice, the deposit will remain on file and be applied to the future appointment.
9. Accidents
While we are extremely careful and use caution and it rarely happens, accidents do occur. Animals move around routinely on the table, grooming equipment is sharp and possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this happens when a pet is wiggling or moving around or when the coat is matted. David Mobile Dog Grooming will not be held liable for accidents that are out of our control. By signing this contract, I acknowledge I've read the client grooming agreement and I (or my Agent) agree to hold David Mobile Dog Grooming, it's owners and employees harmless from any damage, loss, or claim arising from any condition of the undersigned pet, either known or unknown in accordance with the client grooming agreement. It is further understood this clause applies to all pets groomed.
10. Arrival Times and Weather Restrictions
Arrival times are subject to change due to unforeseen events such as the prior appointment taking longer than expected, equipment malfunction, traffic, or weather conditions. Please allow a window time frame and please plan accordingly. We try our best to be on time but it is not always guaranteed as we are dealing with dogs and road conditions.
11. Final Groom Approval Policy
Please take a moment to review your pet’s groom before departure. If any adjustments are needed, we’re happy to make them at no additional charge in most cases. All touch-ups must be requested and completed at the time of service. Please note that refunds and redos are not offered.
12. Pricing Estimate Policy
We’re happy to provide pricing estimates in advance; however, all quotes are based on the information provided at the time of booking. Final pricing may vary once your pet is assessed in person by the groomer, as coat condition, behavior, size, and service needs can impact the total. All estimates are subject to change.
