What is Civil Rights Discrimination as defined by Second Harvest Food Bank?
To discriminate means to distinguish, single out, or make a distinction. Our goal is to treat all TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) applicants fairly and equally. Civil Rights Discrimination ma occur if an individual's rights are dined or interfered with because their membership is in one of the protected classes (race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability). TEFAP Program applicants and participants must be informed of their right to file a discrimination complaint and be allowed to do so.
