Registration

The Community Chorus at Upper Valley Music Center aims to create a welcoming space where singers can enhance their skills in a fun choral community. We believe there is a place for everyone to sing and that singing is a skill that can be learned by most anyone. We sing for fun and wellness at UVMC, drawing on an eclectic variety of choral music to nourish, invigorate, empower, and connect.

Weekly rehearsals take place in two locations, with morning and evening options available. The two rehearsal sections come together for a full-day annual retreat in October, and combined dress rehearsals and performances throughout the year.

Tuesday at Lebanon High School band room in Lebanon from 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Thursdays at UUCUV in Norwich 10:30 am - 12 pm.

Spring Term Rehearsals begin the week of January 7.

Winter Break Feb 14-28.

Combined Chorus Rehearsal on Saturday, March 1, 10am-12pm followed by potluck lunch (First Congregational Church of Lebanon)

Community Performances TBD during March.

Spring Break April 11-25

Dress rehearsal is scheduled for April 26, 3-5pm.

Big Concert: Saturday, May 3, 4pm (3pm call time)

Sing & Play Festival: Saturday, May 17 (First Congregational Church of Lebanon) with Dress Rehearsal May 13, 5:30pm

Each rehearsal is preceded by a 30-minute mini-class, covering vocal technique and music reading, to help Chorus members build and deepen the skills used in rehearsal. These mini-classes are an optional but strongly encouraged part of joining the Chorus, whether you are new to singing or a long-time choral singer!

Our membership fee is intentionally kept low so that our chorus can be a place that truly welcomes people of diverse economic backgrounds. If you are able, please consider making a tax-deductible gift in addition to your membership fee. The cost of each seat is approximately $220 per semester. We rely on your generosity to be able to run the chorus. The Community Chorus is a program of the Upper Valley Music Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Singing 101: If you have ever wished to be a better singer (or a singer at all!), this is the class for you. In this group class, you will learn all about your vocal instrument and how to make it work effectively (if you can talk, it works!), as well as break down the psychological barriers and physical tension that restrain the natural musical function of the human voice. This class will be a safe place for you to develop your singing voice and is open to all (especially beginners!). Home practice will be required in order to gain the full benefit of the class.
