    In order to apply for a place on a Certificate in Healthcare Support programme with LHP Skillnet, you must be currently living in the Republic of Ireland and hold an Irish PPS number.
  • Learners must be based in Ireland and hold an Irish PPS number. Enrolments without either will not be accepted. 

  • Employment Status

    There are training programmes leading towards a Certificate in Healthcare Support (QQI Level 5) for employees in private healthcare as well as jobseekers.
  • Working Hours

  • Individuals who work less than 19.5 hours per week are eligible to apply for a free place on the course Skills Connect Certificate in Healthcare Support, a fully funded training programme for jobseekers.

  • Employment in the Private Healthcare Sector

    Private healthcare is different from public healthcare (HSE). LHP Skillnet supports the private healthcare sector in Ireland.
  • Welfare Schemes

    Individuals who are currently in receipt of certain welfare schemes are eligible for free places on Skills Connect training programmes.
  • Individuals in receipt of {welfare} are eligible to apply for a free place on the course Skills Connect Certificate in Healthcare Support, a fully funded training programme for jobseekers.

  • Your Current Role

    Work experience is an important part of the programme. To complete it, you must currently be working as a Healthcare Assistant.
  • As an individual employed as a Healthcare Assistant in the private healthcare sector, you are eligible to apply for a co-funded place on the course Certificate in Healthcare Support and benefit from the reduced fee for LHP Skillnet Members.

  • Technical Requirements

    Eligible applicants must meet certain technical criteria to successfully participate in the programme.
  • Garda Vetting & Police Clearance Certificates

    The application process includes mandatory in-person Garda vetting which only covers criminal records within the Republic of Ireland. If you originate from or were born outside Ireland, or have lived abroad for a cumulative period of 6 months or more, you’ll need to provide a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) or similar document from each country where you’ve lived. It’s your responsibility to apply for and obtain these certificates, cover any related costs, and make sure they are in English or officially translated.
  • Major Award or Stand-Alone Modules

    Participants in a Certificate in Healthcare Support programme with LHP Skillnet may choose between completing all 8 modules for the Major Award and completing only the modules Care Skills and Care of the Older Person at a members-only fee of €200 for both modules.
