2023 Upper Peninsula Halloweenie Race & Costume Parade

• Event Address: Corner of Shelden Avenue and Isle Royale Street in Houghton, MI

All dogs must be registered to race and participate in the costume parade contest. Humans and dog must check-in at the race area at least 1 hour before race time to pick up race information.

This is a rain or shine event. All dogs must be leashed and will be asked to leave if unruly.

Vaccination must be current and owners are required to clean up their pets waste. Owners and dogs should be on their best behavior (i.e., no fighting, nipping or biting).

Race Rules

Only two handlers in the race area per dog– one at start, the other at the finish line.

No waving of blankets or large objects. You may bring you dog’s favorite toy.

Absolutely NO throwing your dog on to the floor, they must be held until the "GO" and just let go.

Failure to follow rules may result in disqualification. These rules may be modified at any time by event organizers. Judges’ decisions are final and not open to discussion. For the safety of everyone concerned, event organizers reserve the right to refuse participation to humans who cannot follow the rules.

Costume Contest

Prior to the Races, we'll line up the pups to strut their stuff. You do not have to race to participate in the costume contest. But you are required to register.  The winner will be selected by a panel of three judges.

I will not hold any party responsible if another dog injures my dog or me. I certify my dog has had all required shots and I hereby agree to be responsible for the actions of my dog and myself during the Upper Peninsula Halloweenie Races.

I further agree to release indemnity and hold harmless the Upper Peninsula Halloweenie Races, its sponsors, its organizers, and the City of Houghton from any liability arising out of my dog’s participation in the event out of actions or omissions of my dog or myself.

Upper Peninsula Halloweenie Race and all other sponsors will not be responsible for any cost incurred for misbehaved dogs. Owners are responsible to control their dogs at all times.

I give permission to Upper Peninsula Halloweenie Race to use photos taken during the event for promotional purposes.

I acknowledge that I am responsible for picking up all of my dog’s waste.
