The Boards of Directors of the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) and the KSBA Educational Foundation will award CTE student grants in the amount of $250 to eligible high school students in each of its 12 regions. The grants shall be awarded to students who are currently pursuing Industry Certifications offered as part of the Kentucky Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career Pathways/Programs of Study. Each grant will be awarded (paid) directly to the selected student, to be used to offset costs associated with his/her chosen CTE Industry Certification. This includes, but is not limited to assessment fees, course materials, supplies, gas, other related incidental expenses, etc.
Eligible nominees must be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time of nomination. Nominees must meet all grant criteria, including a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 for the most recent grading period prior to nomination (based on a 4.0 scale).
Any Kentucky board of education may place in nomination the names of up to two students: one male, one female. KSBA will accept receipt of the first two eligible nominations per school district by the Nov. 30 nomination deadline. In the event that a district submits nominations for more than one eligible male and female student nominee, KSBA will only accept the nominations of the first male and female and all other nominations will be disqualified. Grants will be awarded based on drawings from regional pools of eligible nominees conducted by the KSBA Board of Directors.
The following CTE Student Grant nomination form must be completed by the nominee's guidance counselor. The form must be completed on or before the nomination deadline (Nov. 30, 2023). The individual completing the online form must attest to the fact that the district’s superintendent and school board have approved the nominee. (The process for how the superintendent and board approve the nominee is at the district’s discretion.)
