  • SuperHero Academy Volunteer Positions

    Classroom Assistant (15 people needed)
    Classroom Assistants help facilitate activities, keep kids engaged and safe, and
    remain patient, flexible, loving, and fun. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position. 

    Classroom Lead (6 people needed)
    Classroom Leaders serve as role models and support other volunteers. They lead
    the schedule outlined in the SuperHeroes Bounce Back Curriculum and help train
    classroom assistant volunteers. Classroom Leaders work with Finally Home staff to
    address any special considerations in the classroom. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Floater (2 people needed)
    Volunteer Floaters play a crucial role in supporting classrooms by providing breaks for volunteers, ensuring safety standards during youth bathroom breaks, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the sensory and activity rooms. They also assist in various other positions as needed. Floaters must be flexible, caring, and compassionate towards all participants and volunteers and be willing to jump in to help classrooms, with the understanding that they will not be in the classroom all day. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Assistant SHA Director (1 person needed)
    The Assistant Director helps the SuperHero Academy Director with preparation,
    planning, and development for the event. This role involves training in all volunteer
    positions, enabling the Assistant Director to assist in any capacity and take over if
    the Director is unavailable.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Supporting and encouraging all team members and volunteers.
    • Showing strong empathy for volunteers and children.
    • Demonstrating good organizational skills.
    • Staying level-headed and prioritizing tasks in stressful or emergency situations.
    Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Trauma Informed Specialist (2 people needed)
    The TIS volunteer must have education or certification in a related field, such as
    education, mental health, or social work. This volunteer will help with challenging
    behaviors, support other volunteers with de-escalation techniques, and provide
    one-on-one support to struggling kids as needed. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

  • Solid Rock Student Volunteer Positions

    Small Group Assistant (10 people needed)
    Small Group Assistants help facilitate activities throughout the event, keep kids
    engaged and safe, and be patient, flexible, loving, and fun. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Small Group Lead (5 people needed)
    Small Group Leaders serve as role models and provide support to other volunteers.
    They are responsible for leading the schedule outlined in the Solid Rock Students
    Curriculum. Small Group Leaders work with Finally Home staff to communicate and
    accommodate any special considerations in their group. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Transportation Coordinator (1 person needed)
    The Transportation Coordinator collaborates with the Solid Rock Students Director
    to ensure transportation is ready for students to leave campus on schedule. The
    Coordinator drives students to and from their activities, refuels and cleans the
    vehicle after use, and returns to the facility after the day's events. Finally Home
    Volunteer Training is provided and required for this volunteer position.

    Pancake Breakfast Volunteer (4 people needed)
    Pancake Breakfast Volunteers assist the Culinary Team Lead in preparing and
    distributing a pancake breakfast at the start of the event. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Culinary Team Volunteer (4 people needed)
    Culinary Team Volunteers help the Culinary Team Lead prepare and distribute meals and snacks for participants, volunteers, and staff throughout the event. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Culinary Team Lead (1 person needed)
    The Culinary Team Lead directs the Culinary Team in preparing and distributing
    meals and snacks for participants, volunteers, and staff. This role ensures smooth
    food service operations and meets the needs of both adult and youth attendees. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Grocery Support Volunteer (2 people needed)
    Grocery Support Volunteers work with the Event Director to shop for and deliver all
    food to the event site the day before the event. No Volunteer Training is required for this position.

    Table Décor Volunteer (2 people needed)
    Table Décor Volunteers work with the Event Director the day before the event to
    create a beautiful and functional table setup for families to enjoy. No Volunteer
    Training is required for this position.

  • General Support Volunteer Positions

    Assistant Director (1 person needed)
    The Assistant Director works alongside the Event Director in the month leading up to the event to prepare all materials, maintain registration information, and handle
    communications for the Family Strengthening Event. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Family Check-In Lead (1 person needed)
    The Family Check-In Lead sets the tone for the day with the first impression for
    attendees and volunteers. They oversee the check-in team, including Family Check-
    In Volunteers, Family Guide Volunteers, and Greeters. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Family Check-In Volunteer (3 people needed)
    Family Check-In Volunteers welcome each family at the registration table. There will be two registration check-ins for this event. These volunteers ensure families
    complete all necessary registration and waivers and provide them with supplies for
    the day. They introduce families to a Family Guide Volunteer who will show them to
    their rooms. Families will check in a second time after the morning session and
    before lunch to their final rooms. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and
    required for this position.

    Family Guide Volunteer (4 people needed)
    Family Guide Volunteers welcome each family as they complete their registration
    check-in and guide them to their rooms. Families will check in a second time after
    the morning session and before lunch to their final rooms. Finally Home Volunteer
    Training is provided and required for this position.

    Family Greeters (4 people needed)
    Family Greeters welcome families as they enter the building and direct them to the
    Family Strengthening Event. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and
    required for this position.

    Photographer (1 person needed)
    The Photographer Volunteer works with the Event Director to capture photos of the
    event, respecting families' photo consent requests. They must submit photos to the
    Event Director within 48 hours after the event for Finally Home’s use. Finally Home
    Volunteer Training is provided and required for this position.

    Security Volunteer (4 people needed)
    Security Volunteers help ensure the safety and enjoyment of the event. They
    monitor exit doors and classroom areas, assist classroom volunteers with medical
    needs, and help manage crowd flow. The security team responds to emergencies
    and provides direction for all event participants. Finally Home Volunteer Training is
    provided and required for this position.

    Security Leader (1 people needed)
    The Security Lead Volunteer leads a team of volunteers to ensure the safety and
    enjoyment of the event. They monitor exit doors and classroom areas, assist
    classroom volunteers with medical needs, and help manage crowd flow. The
    security team lead responds to emergencies and provides direction for all event
    participants. Finally Home Volunteer Training is provided and required for this
    position.

    Equipment Logistics Coordinator (1 person needed)
    The Equipment Logistics Coordinator works with the SuperHero Academy Director
    to ensure all equipment and supplies from the Finally Home office in Windsor, as
    well as from any partner organizations in the community, are delivered to the event
    location the day before the event and returned afterward. No volunteer training is
    required for this position.

    Equipment Logistics Volunteer (3 people needed)
    Equipment Logistics Volunteers assist in loading and moving all equipment and
    supplies from the Finally Home office in Windsor and any additional partner
    organizations in the community to the event location the day before the event and
    returned after the event. No Volunteer Training is required for this volunteer position.

    Set Up Volunteer (2 people needed)
    Set Up Volunteers assist the day before the event by moving supplies from the
    Finally Home Office to the Event Site, setting up tables, chairs, décor, and activities
    for the Family Strengthening Program. No Volunteer Training is required for this
    position.

    Clean Up Volunteer (2 people needed)
    Clean Up Volunteers assist after the event by moving supplies from the Event Site
    back to the Finally Home Office, tearing down tables, chairs, décor, and activities,
    and performing light cleaning of the facilities. No Volunteer Training is required for this position.

    Never Alone Adult/Minor Policy

    • A minimum of three people shall be present at all times when a child is in the room. This minimum may be met by either of the following: one adult/two minors or two adults/one minor. Ideally, when using two adults, they will be from different families. 

    • Use a "buddy system" for children at all times. Teach minor children to notify adult leaders as to whereabouts if separated from the group. Child must acknowledge his/her return to the Room Leader. 

    • There should be no spanking, or any physical contact with private parts of any child. Discipline MUST follow the redirection guidelines outlined in the Finally Home training booklet. 

    • Parents should be notified when they pick up their child of any accident, illness, injury, physical distress or emotional problem expressed by their minor child. 

    • Do not set a child outside the room by himself for disciplinary action, or otherwise leave a child alone without supervision. 

    • It is our intent to follow State regulations in the reporting of child abuse. If you suspect a child is being physically abused, sexually abused, or harmfully neglected, please report your concern to the SHA Director and the Trauma Informed Specialist. DO NOT discuss with the parent or guardian. They will be responsible for complying with State regulations. In addition, if the State requires volunteers or employees to report incidents personally, the SHA  Director and TIS will assist you in contacting the appropriate agency. In cases where reporting is deemed necessary, the directors will work closely with the family and any of the helping agencies involved. Our desire is to provide protection for the children, and support for the family. 

    • Any suspected or alleged child abuse (physical, sexual, or neglect or otherwise) by staff or volunteers can result in temporary removal pending the outcome of an investigation.

  • Confidentiality Policy

    Respecting the privacy of our participants, donors, staff, volunteers, and of Finally Home itself is a basic value of our organization.

    • Personal, family, and financial information is confidential and should not be disclosed or discussed with anyone, without authorization from the Event Director.

    • Sharing sensitive information with key leaders should only be done when necessary for the support and safety of the participant and not to gossip, vent, or judge.

    • “Confidential” means that you are free to talk about Finally Home and your position, but you are not permitted to disclose participants’ and or donors’ names or talk about them in ways that will make their identity known. You should also ensure that unauthorized individuals do not overhear any discussion of confidential information and that documents or reports containing confidential information are not left in the open or inadvertently shared.

    • It is the policy of Finally Home that information described above must be kept confidential both during and after volunteer service for the protection of our participants and their families.

    • Unauthorized disclosure of confidential information or gossip is a serious violation of this policy and may result in removal/dismissal from involvement in Finally Home’s programs.

    • You should inform you supervisor immediately if you believe any violation (unintentional or otherwise) of the policy has occurred. Violation of this policy will lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of your volunteer service with Finally Home.

    I acknowledge that I have received a copy of Finally Home's Volunteer Training Manual. I understand that I am responsible for reading the information contained in the Training Manual. I understand that the training manual is intended to provide me with an overview of the policies and procedures for a Finally Home event. I acknowledge that I have read and reviewed all the information and will uphold the volunteer agreement that I have completed.

    I will adhere to all Finally Home Policies and Procedures that pertain to the area I am volunteering for. The information contained in this application is correct to the best of my knowledge. I, the undersigned, give my authorization to Finally Home or its representatives to release any and all records or information relating to working with minors.

    Finally Home may contact my references and appropriate government agencies as deemed necessary in order to verify my suitability in working with minors. I understand that the personal information in this application will be held confidential by the professional FH staff.

    I hereby release and hold Finally Home harmless against all claims, liabilities, and expenses arising out of the breach of this representation.

I waive all rights under privacy, publicity, defamation, libel, and proprietary rights relating to such media.
