Student Board Member for Climate Action Evanston 2023-2024 School Year
Position Description:
The student Board Member term lasts for one school year, with an option to renew the position or extend into the summer holiday. This board position is a volunteer opportunity and is thus flexible in its overall obligations. However, there are a few primary responsibilities included below. To aid with onboarding, selected students will be assigned a mentor from the existing Climate Action Evanston Board who will answer questions and guide them through the position.
The primary responsibility of the Climate Action Evanston Student Board Member is to help coordinate climate action efforts between Northwestern University and the broader Evanston community.
For the 2023-2024 school year, this specifically involves:
- Participation in monthly board meetings. You would be a full voting board member of CAE and we hope for your active engagement, ideas, and involvement in our work.
- Assistance in planning our Earth Day Event in April 2024 that includes collaboration with relevant student groups, academic departments at Northwestern, and the programs of Climate Action Evanston.
- Being a primary point of contact for students or faculty interested in working with Climate Action Evanston on local issues.
- Aiding Climate Action Evanston in creating a repository of collaborative student projects for both NU students and ETHS students.
- Using social media and other digital communication tools to spread awareness and engagement about the initiatives and programs of Climate Action Evanston.
- Informing yourself about one or more of CAE’s partner programs by attending event/s or planning meetings.
