DNA testing accuracy is only good as the handlers! What does this mean?
1. Sample Provided By Owners.
While at-home sample collection can be easy and convenient for customers, it also means that the the DNA samples cannot always be guaranteed. The accuracy of dog DNA test can vary depending on the sample collected by the owner. Therefore it is imperative to follow the instructions in dog testing kits carefully. Human error can take place for examples. tainted samples, debris, food particles and more.
2. Number of Genetic Markers analyzed for the similarities and differences in these genetic markers among the breeds.
3. Number & Breeds of Dogs
The number of breeds in a dog DNA test lab’s database also affects accuracy. The more breeds within the DNA database, the better the test’s accuracy. As we know these testing facilities are growing in numbers yearly and improving, but have yet to have accuracy when identifying breeds as a whole.
4. Confirming Test Accuracy
We have yet to confirm 100 percent pure accuracy while accepting test results for stated breeds so we have chosen to opt out of such practices until these test have become fail proof and are collected strictly by proffesinals in a realiable labortory.
