  • Policy Purpose 
    The Idaho Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) has set this social media policy to provide guidelines for the member clubs on how to submit online content posts to the Association. This is to ensure uniformity, clarity, and responsible and fair sharing of information. IYSA is aware of the sheer scope of keeping up with all the newsworthy things that are happening within our soccer membership, With over 40 clubs, around 1,300 teams, and over 15,000 players within the IYSA umbrella. We must be able to do better at celebrating and sharing our community, this is the intent of this and related documents.  
     
    Scope 
    This policy applies to all member clubs of IYSA. It covers submissions that are US Youth Soccer (USYS)-sanctioned events. 
     
    Media Channels 
    Member clubs can submit posts through the following channels: 
    Facebook 
    Instagram 
    Twitter 
     
    Post Submission 
    To submit a post, clubs must use the online media request form available on the IYSA website. This form is specifically designed to capture all the required information, ensuring the proposed content aligns with IYSA's overall message and goals and follows IYSA’s Communications Strategy and Online Media Guidelines.  
     
    Post Limitations 
    Clubs should consider the nature of the post content. The content of the posts should primarily concern events, activities, and programs that are USYS-sanctioned and player-centric. Please note that promotions, including tryouts or camps, are not acceptable for re-posting.  
     
    Posting Guidelines 
    To maintain the integrity of our communication platforms and ensure the content is relevant and suitable for our audiences, clubs should refer to the Online Media Guidelines document available on the IYSA website. This document contains detailed instructions on what constitutes appropriate content and the expected format for the posts 
      
    Review Process 
    All submitted posts will be reviewed by the IYSA Communications team before posting. The team reserves the right to edit, modify, or reject any proposed content that does not meet the standards outlined in the Online Media Guidelines document or is contrary to the overall Communications Strategy or IYSA’s main goals and message. 
     
    Policy Enforcement 
    Non-compliance with this social media policy may result in the denial of requested post/s and potential limitation on the offending club's future posting privileges. 
    By adhering to this policy, we can ensure a consistent, positive, and engaging online presence that promotes the sport of soccer and aligns with the vision of IYSA.

    ONLINE MEDIA GUIDELINES 
  • The Online Media Guidelines document is designed to assist member clubs of the Idaho Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) in submitting post requests that align with IYSA's communication strategy. Herein are channel-specific requirements for submitting content for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. 
    General Guidelines 
    Content must align with the goals, values, strategies, and mission of IYSA. 
    Cannot promote events, activities, and programs that are not USYS-sanctioned. 
    Profanity, discriminatory, or offensive content is strictly prohibited. 
    Ensure accurate, relevant, and timely information is provided. 
    Player-centric, team-centric content is preferred (“good of the game”) 
    Channel-Specific Guidelines 
    a. Facebook 
    Photo/Video: Upload photos (max. 5 per post) in JPEG or PNG format. Videos should not exceed 5 minutes in length and 4GB in size. Always ensure that you have the right to any media posted. 
    Text: Limit to 63000 characters. However, keep the post concise (around 80 characters) for better engagement. 
    b. Instagram 
    Photo/Video: Posts can include up to 10 images or videos. Images should have a resolution of at least 1080 pixels wide. Video posts can be up to 60 seconds long. 
    Text: Limit captions to 2200 characters but consider using less for readability. Use relevant hashtags to increase visibility. 
    c. Twitter 
    Photo/Video: Tweets can include up to 4 photos or a GIF or a video. Images should be under 5MB, and videos should be 2 minutes and 20 seconds or less. 
    Text: Tweets should be 280 characters or less. Use relevant hashtags and tag related accounts where applicable and appropriate. 
     
    Review Process 
    Submitted posts will be reviewed by the IYSA Communications team, and clubs will be notified if their posts are approved or if any modifications are needed, within 2-5 business days.   
     
    Post Submission 
    Please use the online media request form on the IYSA website to submit your posts.

    Posting Timeline 
    Approved media requests will be processed and posted within a reasonable timeframe from acceptance. A reasonable timeframe is affected by the following variables: 
     Previous content posting that is already on our content calendar 
    Errors or edits required to the final version 
    Missing or poor information 
    Poor quality media (photos/videos)  
    Please Note: Media requests submitted on the same day will not be processed and posted. Please plan accordingly to get on the calendar.  
     
    Intellectual Property and Content Legality 
    It's crucial to respect intellectual property laws and personal privacy when submitting content for posting. 
     
    a. Photo/Video Release 
    If your content includes identifiable images or videos of individuals, especially minors, it is your responsibility to have a signed release form from the individuals or their legal guardians. The release form should give consent for the use of their likeness for promotional purposes. IYSA reserves the right to ask for these forms at any time. 
     
    b. Copyrighted Material 
    Do not submit content that includes copyrighted material (music, artwork, trademarked logos, etc.) unless you have obtained the necessary permissions or licenses from the copyright holder. The unauthorized use of copyrighted material is a legal infringement and will not be tolerated. 
     
    c. User-Generated Content 
    If you are submitting content that was not created by your club (such as fan photos, retweets, or shared posts), ensure you have permission from the original creator to use their content. Credit should be given where it's due. 
     
    Indemnity 
    By submitting content, you are agreeing to indemnify and hold harmless IYSA against any claims or legal proceedings brought against IYSA because of the use of the content you provided.

    Electronically signing your signature below, you hereby confirm and represent that:

    1. You are an authorized representative of a member organization affiliated with IYSA.
    2. You are acting on behalf of your respective organization in submitting the enclosed social media posts.
    3. All content provided is original, authorized for use, and does not infringe upon any copyrights or other proprietary rights.
    4. Any photographs or media featuring minors have been obtained with the explicit consent of the minor's parent or legal guardian, and you have the necessary permissions to share and distribute such media.
    5. Should any content be found unauthorized, infringing, or in violation of any rights, you accept full responsibility and will indemnify and hold harmless IYSA against any claims, damages, or legal actions that may arise as a result.
