Parents' Night Out
Parents' Night Out is our kick-off event of the year. All parents are welcome for cocktails and bites to mix, mingle and have fun. It’s a great way to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. Committee members will help secure a venue, get sponsorships as needed, plan decor, menus, and help run the event from set up to breakdown.
Challah Bake
Our annual challah bake is a time for us to come together as a community to share in the tradition of making challah while getting to know one another better. Committee members will plan the bake from start to finish, deciding on a theme, venue, preparing all the ingredients/supplies, procuring a host/special guest to lead, as well as setting up and breaking down the bake.
Holiday and Spring Bazaar
The Bazaars are an on-campus shopping experience with vendors curated by the committee. A portion of the sales are donated back to Lehrman. Volunteers will help secure vendors, set up the bazaars, help shoppers, and run/break down the event day of.
Chanukah Party
This is an on-campus event for the students to celebrate Chanukah. Special treats are given and special activities are planned by the committee to create a memorable Chanukah celebration. Volunteers will help curate the food, games and will be responsible for setting up and overseeing the festivities. It’s a fun day to interact with the students during school hours.
Book Fair
The book fair is our opportunity to promote and celebrate literacy for our Lehrman community through our partnership with Literati. In addition to overseeing the book fair itself, the committee will help curate various events and activities that relate to books and help foster a love of learning and literacy while bringing the community together. Volunteers will work together to plan and execute various activities throughout book fair week.
Girls' Night Out
A fun night for moms to get together and let loose. Committee members will work together to choose a theme, find a venue, plan food/decor, get sponsorships, and set up and break down the event.
Purim Carnival
This was a new event last year that was a huge hit. This is an all family affair held on the Sunday of Purim at Crespi park. Committee members will help plan a full out carnival with rides, activities, food and fun. Families can come in costume and enjoy being together as a Lehrman community.
Teacher Appreciation Week
This is a full week dedicated to making our teachers feel loved and appreciated for all their hard work. Special food treats, coffee carts, swag, games and activities will be carried out throughout the week leading up to the big raffle - the items for which are collected by the committee through donations. Apart from planning the festivities, committee members will volunteer to be on campus facilitating everything throughout the week.
Chesed
Chesed translates to kindness or love between people. This committee focuses on community outreach to spread love, support and kindness throughout the Lehrman community be it through sending home Shabbat kits to families with a new addition or who have suffered a loss, collecting toys or costumes for those less fortunate through our partnership with JAFCO, and food for the kosher food bank.
End-of-Year Parties
This committee helps mark the end of a successful school year with special treats and activities for the students and teachers. Volunteers will decide how to celebrate our Lehrman community and send them off for summer in style. This is an on campus event with the kids during school hours.
TLC - Teacher Loving Care
TLC stands for Teacher Love and Care. This committee helps celebrate our teachers all year long! The group works together to plan special activities, experiences and treats to let our teachers know how much we appreciate them. We look to the community to help sponsor the love.
Weekly Challah
This committee facilitates the sales and distribution of the challahs that are purchased and sent home with students every week. It involves working directly with the bakery to place weekly orders and then sorting/distributing the challahs to classrooms each week to be brought home for Shabbat. The committee also facilitates the baked goods offered during the high holidays as well as Lulav and Etrog sales/distribution.
Speaker Series
This committee facilitates special talks given by experts in the community on various topics applicable to the Lehrman community. The committee helps decide what topics and experts to seek out and oversees planning each talk from start to finish.
Tennis/Pickle/Padel Tournament Committee
Help kick-off a new committee that will raise funds for the PTA by putting together a tournament for either adults only or perhaps the whole family. An opportunity to create something from scratch!
