Elms College along with American International College, Bay Path University and Westfield State University, joined with Springfield Public Schools to form the Western Massachusetts Literacy Collaborative (WMLC) to improve literacy rates amongst school aged children, PreK-12.
This interactive event will continue the Community Call to Action of the Western Mass. Literacy Collaborative Education Town Hall that was held on Thursday, Sept. 14th at Elms College. Community members and education advocates will engage in conversations about the literacy crisis in America and what we can do to implement Just Solutions within our Western Massachusetts community.
Participants will hear from, and connect with, local businesses and organizations who share aligned goals regarding improving literacy rates for our children. These conversations will elevate the key points highlighted in the critically acclaimed 2023 film, “Right to Read”. We will also discuss WMLC's Summer Learn and Earn Literacy Corps impact on literacy initiatives and offer ways to join the movement.
This event is free and open to the public! Register Below!
This Education Town Hall is sponsored by the Elms College, Cynthia A. Lyons Center for Equity in Urban Education (CEUE) through a grant funded by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.
