ATTENDANCE:
Arrive at your lesson ten minutes early. Bring all the materials needed, including your instrument, to your lesson. Your teacher is not obligated to teach and/or make up the lesson if the instrument is left at home. Enter the school quietly and wash your hands. Please have your instrument unpacked and tuned so you are ready for when your instructor calls you in for your lesson. Arrive on time for your group class and enter the classroom quietly. Arrive ten minutes early for all chamber classes to allow time to unpack and tune. Weekly attendance at all group and elective classes is expected.
We only start one child at a time with lessons. Siblings can sit and observe lessons quietly and start the following year.
For students ages 3-10 Private lessons will be held on a separate day than group class. This is in the best interest for the child.
All enrolled students are expected to attend group class every week. The first month will mostly be observation. This allows the child to start the habit of attending group class and participating with the other students.

If a student is in a chamber group, they will have additional required performances. Students will be given many opportunities to play their music together in concerts, recitals, events, outreaches and more. SSA requires all students to wear all black formal attire for all concerts and recitals. Playing together and sharing your music frequently makes it fun and a joy!

SUPERVISION AND BUILDING USE:
Parents need to be with children 7 years old and younger at all times. Do not leave your child unsupervised. Studio rooms are meant for practicing and warming up/tuning. There are designated child areas on both floors which will be marked. SSA is not liable for students outside of our suite. There are other businesses in this building, and we want to be respectful of them and their clients. The SSA parking lot is on the front of the building and students/families should not park or play in the back parking lot. SSA is not liable for students outside the building other than during their designated lesson times. The outside grounds are not intended as a play area.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES:
Keep eating and drinking to a minimum while in the lobby area. No food should be brought into the studio rooms. Please leave each space and room clean for the next lesson or class.
PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES:
Academy students may only use electronic devices such as: cellphones, tablets, or laptops with the permission of a SSA Teacher, or in case of emergency. Tablets and laptops should only be used to take lesson notes. Parents, please keep cell phones turned off or on silent during lessons and classes. SSA desires that all parents be engaged in the overall learning experience.
ILLNESS:
SSA offers in person lessons and classes throughout the school year and summer with online lessons only as an option for makeup lessons. As we prioritize cleanliness in our building and among our staff, we strongly encourage each individual to do so as well. Please wash your hands before coming to class and do not come in if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness or experiencing any fever within the last twenty-four hours.
ENROLLMENT CANCELLATION:
SSA expects to work with each enrolled student from their formative years through high school. SSA is committed to establishing a relationship of long-term success and growth with each student at the Academy. In the event of a mid-year enrollment cancellation due to any reason, families will be charged an Enrollment Cancellation Fee equal to the cost of an additional month’s tuition. Enrollment cancellation occurs after the family informs the Director in writing (ruth@suzukistringacademy.com) of their decision to terminate and completes with an in-person close out meeting with their instructor and the director.
All enrollment fees and tuition payments are non-refundable.
