LEAGUE Q&A

Dates & Times:

Sundays:  October 22nd (Player Evaluations & Training Camp)

League Begins:  October 29th,November 5th, 12th, 19th, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th

Games played aty 1:00pm, 2:30pm, or 4:00pm at Valparaiso High School

Cost to play:

$110.00 per player

Do I need to have my own team to play in the league?

No.  We will create teams once all players are registered.

Who will coach the teams?
Volunteers (Dads, Moms, etc) will coach each of the teams.  They will be asked to attend a training session with VHS Head Coaches, Ben Lieske, Candy Wilson, and League Director Jackie Clark.

How will teams be picked?
Upon the completion of registration, and depending on the number of registrants, we will establish the divisions.  Within each division, we will include the Volunteers in a process to select teams.  

How will the games be managed?
Officials will be hired to officiate each game.  We'll ask for volunteers to run the scoreboard and keep the book.  In addition, there will be a Valpo Hoops Administrator on site at all times to help manage games and answer any questions.

Are boys and girls playing together on the same teams?
No.  There will be separate teams and divisions for boys and for girls.

When and Where are the games?
Games will be played at Valparaiso High School, utilizing the main gym and field house courts.

Can I come watch the League games?
Of course!  All games will be open and free to spectators & fans.

Permission For Emergency Medical Treatment

As the legal parent or guardian, in the event of illness or accident, I give consent for the Valpo Hoops LLC and/or the Valparaiso Boys Hoops members of the Valparaiso High School Basketball Coaching Staff to secure any and all necessary emergency medical care for my child.  The undersigned gives permission to Valpo Hoops LLC and/or the Valparaiso Boys Hoops LLC,., its owners and operators and members of the Valparaiso High School Basketball Coaching staff to seek medical treatment for the participant in the event they are not able to reach a parent or guardian. I request that my child be transported to Porter Hospital in the event of an emergency.  I hereby declare we have listed any physical/mental problems, restrictions, or conditions and/or declare the participant to be in good enough physical and mental health to participate in basketball practice and games.  

Release of Liability

As the legal parent or guardian, I release and hold harmless Valpo Hoops LLC, and/or the Valparaiso Boys Hoops LLC,, its owners and operators, members of the Valparaiso High School Basketball Coaching Staff and Players, and the Valparaiso Community School Corporation from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by the participant and/or the undersigned, while in or upon the premises or any premises under the control and supervision of Valpo Hoops LLC and/or the Valparaiso Boys Hoops LLC, its owners and operators or in route to or from any of said premises.  I also attest that my child/children are in sound physical health and able to safely compete in rigorous physical activity.

Social Media Release:

As the legal parent or guardian, I grant permission for the Valpo Hoops LLC and Club and/or Valparaiso Boys Hoops LLC to utilize my player's photo or video footage to promote the program using various social media outlets.

Spectator Code Of Conduct Agreement:

It is important that every spectator be an exemplary role model and maintain the highest standard of conduct at all times. Spectators represent their community, school and team. Many people observe their conduct closely. The spectator must recognize that the purpose of school based activities is to promote physical, mental, moral, social and emotional well-being of participants. The following guidelines will be upheld with all spectators at games:

• VALPO HOOPS Fans WILL:
  • Cheer with respect and in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Treat all participants with respect.  Support the efforts of players and coaches regardless of the result. Comply with any directions given by game management.
• VALPO HOOPS Fans WILL NOT: Ridicule, criticize, or show any signs of disrespect to officials, players, coaches, or other spectators. Use vulgar, racial, culturally insensitive or abusive language or threatening gestures. Engage in any activity that embarrasses others or prohibits them from enjoying the experience of the game. Attend any game under the influence of alcohol or drugs. I, THE PARENT/GUARDIAN UNDERSTAND THE ABOVE EXPECTATIONS AND UNDERSTAND THAT I WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE SESSION/LEAGUE/GAME AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ATTEND FUTURE LEAGUE PRACTICES OR GAMES THAT SEASON.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

We need individuals who are positive, energetic, strong role models, and who have a basketball background, who are willing to donate their time.  Below, there is a field you can use to indicate if you are interested in helping with our program.  All volunteers will undergo a background check and screening process.
