2026 VCE KickstART Student Application

at the National Gallery of Victoria.

What is KickstART?

KickstART is a program designed to help 2026 VCE Art students gain a better understanding of what is required to produce high-quality folio's and perform well moving into VCE. High-performing students from 2025 year share their tips, tricks, folio pages and their story behind their work.

We are seeking students from each subject area (VCE Art Creative Practice & VCE Art Making and Exhibiting) to present their folios at our event on Sat 14 February 2026 at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).

Past students will take the audience on a tour of their year 12 studies using PowerPoint slides of their folios alongside commentary. Student presenters will share advice, tips and tricks they picked up along the way and any insights they think are vital in achieving success in the SAT folio.

KickstART will be presented on Sat 14 February 2026 in partnership with the National Gallery of Victoria.

Who is Art Education Victoria?

We are a non-profit organisation that supports and represents art educators and students. We advocate for and advance quality visual arts learning and teaching experiences by providing resources, programs, and opportunities for partnerships and collaboration within the Victorian community.

Submitting your application

Applications (including all pictures/images) must be uploaded and submitted via this jot form.

Notification of participation

Applicants will be notified about their application outcome on or before the week ending 18 January 2026.

KickstART Briefing Day

We will require you to attend an in-person briefing. (Date TBC)

The actual event will occur on a Saturday 14 February 2026

IMPORTANT INFORMATION if you are chosen to present

Art Education Victoria will require photographs of your folio pages (minimum 20 single or double page spreads) which you will use for your presentation when talking about your work. We recommend you take a birds eye view/good quality images of your folio pages to use for your KickstART presentation that show your best work and include (theme, inspiration, development/directions, process, challenges, materials, final artwork etc). If you are also chosen for the TopArts program at the NGV, we recomend you document your work, prior to submitting your folio. Can can be in both TopArts and KickstART.

Please note if you are shortlisted and chosen to present for KickstART you will need to provide permission to access your folio and bring this on the day of the event or the NGV will have your folio ready for us to access.

We are looking for a concise statement outlining the concepts/ideas/intention underpinning your work, the processes and techniques you used, and the influences/interests that inspired your work.
