UQCCR is pleased to present the first ever Infectious Diseases Theme research showcase in the UQCCR Auditorium on Thursday 16th of November, 2023! Please join us for a day of short presentations and refreshments. You will meet our researchers, hear snapshots of the exciting work we do in basic and clinical science, and find opportunities to collaborate with us and join our research teams. You will also hear from research-active members of the Metro North staff network. This event is suitable for clinicians and healthcare professionals, researchers at all stages, and undergraduate students who are interested in joining.
At UQCCR we research emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, as well as the antimicrobial resistance they harbour, which are a global health risk that threatens the utility of current detection, prevention, and treatment strategies.
We aim to address this health crisis by:
1. Improving antimicrobial dosing in clinically challenging and critically ill patient populations.
2. Gathering new knowledge on the microbiome to better understand infections, to generate novel microbiome-focused therapies.
3. Improving the global detection and surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant infections.
4. Trialling new therapies and methods for preventing and treating antimicrobial-resistant infections.
5. Translation of rapid diagnostic tests and novel treatment strategies from benchtop to bedside to combat infections and antimicrobial resistance.
Please register your attendance below, we hope to see you soon!
