  • To celebrate what makes the Sea to Sky region unique, WFF presents the Sea to Sky Shorts Showcase, a filmmaking competition where you can win $2500! Open to anyone residing in the region with a phone, GoPro, or camera with a story to tell. 

    The showcase competition is about discovering great stories that unite the community while highlighting the many amazing creative storytellers from the Sea to Sky region.

  • TERMS & CONDITIONS 

    • All applicants will be required to pay an application fee of $20 to enter. 
      A basic Whistler Film Festival Society membership of $2 will be included in your application fee.
    • The Filmmaker will reserve ownership of the film.
    • The Whistler Film Festival reserves the right to use the film for promotional purposes on its respective channels during and after the 2023 Festival at its discretion.
    • Sharing the film publicly prior to the official WFF screening will automatically remove you from the competition. You cannot share your film online or publicly until after November 10th.
    • You are required to have permission for everything that you plan to show on screen/online.
    • Releases should be secured for subjects, participants, actors, locations, artwork, logos, music, photographs, archival footage etc. 
    • Don’t take unnecessary risks if you are planning any stunts or to showcase any outdoor sports. 
    • WFF is not liable or at fault for any injuries or damages that happen whilst filming.
    • Short term insurance packages are available from companies dedicated to the entertainment industry such as Front Row insurance.
    • WFF assumes no liability in the making of your film.
    • If you are filming anywhere that is not private property ie: the street, a park, on the hill etc, it is your responsibility to make sure you have the proper permits. On private property, get a location release. Visit the website of the city/municipality you are in to see the film permit requirements.
    • WFF does not require you to submit your clearances and is not responsible should legal action be taken for not having proper permissions.
      You are responsible for production and liability insurance and are accepting the legal risk in the making of your film.
    • Your filmmaker and crew information will be used to issue free event tickets to the screening, it is up to you to decide who this is allocated to. All other members of your team not registered at the time of submission must purchase a ticket to the screening.
