  • When serving alcohol at an event requires approval from the respective local authorities. The regulations around alcohol are strict, and they vary between different emirates.

    Generally, the venue hosting the event must have a license to serve alcohol. In Dubai, for example, event organizers also need to apply for a special event license to serve alcohol, which is usually handled by the venue if they already hold an alcohol license. For private events in certain venues like hotels, the hotel management typically takes care of the necessary permissions as part of their service.

    For events not held in licensed premises, a temporary event license might be required, and the application for such a license often needs to be supported by a licensed liquor distributor. Additionally, it's important to ensure that all attendees who will be consuming alcohol are non-Muslims over the age of 21, which is the legal drinking age in the UAE.
