Basic Patrol Rifle Course #3322
This course of instruction is designed to provide the front-line officer or detective with the basic knowledge needed to safely deploy the AR-15 style service rifle in patrol response situations where department policy recognizes the use of deadly force is appropriate with a rifle cartridge. This course is intended to act as an additional level of training above and beyond the training received for pistol qualification. Required equipment for the class is listed below and should be brought starting the first day of class. RIFLE: A semi-automatic 223 Remington 5.56 NATO AR15 CAR15 type rifle with A1/A2 type sights manufactured by a recognized manufacturer or licensed gunsmith (no self-made gun parts), and at least three magazines in 20 or 30 round capacity, and rifle sling. (Pistol grade carbines will not be approved for this course). Iron sites are required. Optional combat optics or heads up display type aiming device (Tasco ProPoint, AIMPOINT, Bushnell or Eotech EDS) in addition to iron sights are permissible. A scope with no more than 5x power magnification is allowed. Students are required to bring their uniform duty belt and primary duty weapon with a minimum of three magazines. Ammo required: 100 rounds of pistol and 500 rounds of 5.56/.223 ammunition (no steel penetrator, tracer rounds, or reloaded ammunition is allowed). STUDENTS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED BY THEIR CHAIN OF COMMAND TO ATTEND PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. SEE DEPARTMENT POLICY SECTION 15.10 FOR QUALIFICATIONS TO ATTEND COURSE. THIS COURSE IS OPEN TO PCT 4 DEPUTIES ONLY. Outside agencies will not be approved at this time. This course is approved for 32 TCOLE hours. LOCATION: Trinity Armory - 2152 County Rd 388, Cleveland, TX 77328 - CLASS TIMES: 0830 - 1630 - COURSE IS LIMITED TO PRECINCT 4 PERSONNEL ONLY.
