FOSTER HOME AGREEMENT
This Agreement is between Feline Friends of Sammamish (“FF”) and (“Fosterer”). Fosterer {name} agrees to temporarily care for pet(s) on behalf of FF and to comply with the following rules:
General Rules
Fosterer understands that the purpose and mission of FF is to reunite foster pets with their forever home.
Fosterer understands that the foster pet is only temporarily in their care and remains the property of FF. FF can remove the foster pet from the Fosterer at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice.
Fosterer understands and acknowledges that all adoptions need to be arranged through FF. Fosterer does not have any right or authority to keep, adopt, transfer or place foster animals in other homes or with other individuals without FF authorization.
If Fosterer becomes unable to fulfill any of the requirements set forth in this Agreement, they will notify a FF representative immediately.
Home Environment
The foster pet shall reside at Fosterer’s home address as listed in this Agreement. Fosterer will timely notify FF of any changes in Fosterer’s contact information.
Fosterer shall provide the foster pet with humane care and maintain the foster pet in accordance with all applicable state, county, and municipal laws and ordinances while the pet resides with Fosterer.
Fosterer agrees to provide the foster pet with adequate food, water, shelter, affection, socialization, and exercise comparable to what Fosterer would provide to their own pets.
Fosterer further agrees to keep all areas accessible to the foster pet free of common hazards such as unprotected wires, toxic chemicals, and plants and food known to be toxic to pets.
Foster cats shall be housed exclusively indoors.
Fosterer will immediately notify FF if the foster pet escapes or cannot be located.
By signing this Agreement, Fosterer confirms that Fosterer’s personal pets, if any, are current on their vaccinations, including Bordatella (for dogs), which is not a routine vaccination.
Fosterer further confirms that Fosterer’s personal cats are negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV.
Fosterer understands that FF will not reimburse for any property damage or bodily injury incurred due to foster pet’s presence in Fosterer’s home.
If Fosterer cannot keep the foster pet, Fosterer shall notify FF immediately. The foster pet shall not be sold, abandoned, relinquished to a shelter or to another rescue group.
Fosterer will not relinquish custody of foster pet to anyone other than Feline Friends of Sammamish.
Fosterer understands that FF and its representatives have limited information regarding the temperament and habits of the foster pet.
Fosterer agrees that if they have a FF foster pet in their care, and decide to foster a pet from another organization at the same time, FF must be notified immediately and have the option to remove our pet(s).
Fosterer agrees to abide by the pet number limit established by their county and/or municipality at all times.
If Fosterer will be going out of town and unable to care for the foster pet, they will provide as much notice as possible to FF (at least two weeks) to allow FF time to arrange an alternate foster placement.
Fosterer understands that, in order to minimize disruption to the pet, FF may elect to keep the pet in the alternate living arrangement even after Fosterer returns.
If they have a FF foster pet in their care, and decide to foster a pet from another organization at the same time, FF must be notified immediately and have the option to remove our pet(s).
Veterinary Care
Fosterer will make no decisions regarding the foster pet’s veterinary care (including euthanasia) without prior approval from FF. All well and sick vet visits will be scheduled by FF.
Fosterer understands that medical care for the foster animal will be provided by FF. However FF does not cover veterinary care or expenses for Fosterer’s pets, self or family members.
Fosterer will inform FF immediately if any of Fosterer’s pets become ill. Any delay could cause Fosterer to be responsible for necessary care arising from said illness.
In the case of a veterinary emergency, Fosterer will make every effort to contact a FF representative before considering an emergency visit. In the event that Fosterer is unable to reach a FF representative, Fosterer will immediately take the pet directly to the nearest animal emergency clinic and authorize any treatment deemed reasonably necessary by the clinic. Reasonable emergency veterinary expenses for the foster pet will be reimbursed by FF in the event that a FF representative cannot be reached.
FF will provide preventative care (including vaccines, dewormer, and flea and heartworm preventative) and medication for some minor illnesses diagnosed and treated by a FF approved veterinarian. Fosterer will be responsible for administering medications or treatment.
Fosterer understands the foster pet may be incubating dangerous diseases unbeknownst to a veterinarian. Fosterer also understands that FF will not provide medical care or treatment to Fosterer’s personal pets should they contract any disease from the foster pet.
Release of Liability
Fosterer does hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless FF and any person, firm, or corporation charged or chargeable with liability, their heirs, administrators, executors, successors, and assigns, from any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, loss of services, actions, and causes of action, whether known or unknown, belonging to Fosterer due to any action or occurrence from the date of this Agreement arising out of or in connection with the custody or care of the foster pet.
By signing, Fosterer acknowledges that they have read and understood the terms of this Agreement in full, and they agree to be bound by its provisions.
