2023/24 scholarship Application Form

The Scholarship program of the Greater Orlando Alliance of Black Accountants (GOABA) provides an excellent opportunity to obtain funding for college. Through generous contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations that share the GOABA’s desire to break through the economic barrier minorities often experience. We are set to award over $15,000 in scholarship funds to deserving students.

Application Eligibility

Basic Requirements:

1. Be currently enrolled at a United States College, University or Community College as a full-time (12 semester hours or equivalent) undergraduate student or be a full-time graduate student (9 semester hours or equivalent).
   1. Undergraduate students must major in Accounting, Finance or any other business related major.
   2. Graduate students must be enrolled into a Masters-level Accounting, Finance, Business or MBA program.
2. Meet the minimum grade point average requirement of 3.0 overall. Please provide a conversion of your grades to the "4.0 grading scale" if your college or university does not use this scale.
3. College or University should be within the Central and North Florida areas.
   1. Online students are eligible if they currently reside in the Greater Orlando & Jacksonville area.
4. Attend the Scholarship & Awards Brunch in April 2024 (date TBD).

Due Date

All scholarship contents must be submitted or postmarked by Sunday, March 31, 2024. Plan carefully so that your application receives the consideration it deserves. Applications submitted after 11:59PM on Sunday, March 31, 2024, WILL NOT be considered. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.

Submission Payout

Awards are made for the current academic year, so applicants in 2023 should be pursuing scholarships for the current 2023-2024 school year. The scholarships and monetary awards will be presented during the Scholarship Awards Ceremony in April 2024 (date TBD). Should a scholarship recipient misplace their scholarship payment or need to have it mailed to a different address, a replacement fee of $35 will be deducted. Any scholarships not cashed within one year of the check date will be forfeited.

Discuss a specific initiative or program you would propose to enhance diversity and inclusion within the accounting, business, or finance professional, both locally and nationally.

***Please note that all scholarship submissions will be evaluated based on the terms above, as well as other specific criteria that may not be identified on this apllication.

1. I have met ALL requirements as outlined and acknowledge that misrepresentation of the information presented may be grounds to rescind the scholarship award. I also agree to inform the scholarship committee of any significant changes to that information.

2. I will use the proceeds of any scholarship aid received for the payment of tuition, required fees, room and board, and/or required materials only.

3. I agree to the release of official/unofficial transcripts of my grades to GOABA scholarship@orlandoaba.org Scholarship Review Committee.

4. If I am awarded a scholarship, I will provide satisfactory evidence, as required by GOABA, of my full-time enrollment during the period(s) for which the scholarship is awarded.

5. I understand that submission of this application constitutes permission to use my name and/or photograph for promotional purposes in all GOABA publications.

6. I understand that my application for the scholarship may also be used for internship consideration with GOABA sponsors.

7. I understand that if I am awarded a scholarship, I am required to attend the GOABA Scholarship & Awards Brunch to be held in April 2024 (date TBD).
