WVDBA TOURNAMENT RULES
• ELIGIBILITY: Bowlers must be deaf or hard-of-hearing with communicate in sign language. Bowler must be a member of USBC. Deaf parents who are participate in the tournament, their hearing family members who can sign are eligible to bowl. The tournament is limited to one hearing bowler per team and double events. No high school student can compete. The non-student individual must be at least 18 years old to be eligible to compete.
• MEMBERS: All participants shall be required to produce their individual 2023-2024 USBC membership card at the time of check-in. Entrants will use their highest USBC sanctioned book average end of 2022-2023 season. If not 2022-2023 average, use highest current USBC sanctioned league average of 21 or more games, as of end of December 23, 2023. Local Secretary will must sign current average. Whoever don’t have average from last year or this year, they may bowl. You will receive 220 average. An individual who bowled 21 or more games prior the WVDBA's Tournament, at the time of bowling is 10 or more pins above entrance, the average will be adjusted for the WVDBA tournament. FAILURE TO USE THE PROPER AVERAGE OR MAKE A CORRECTION PRIOR TO THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST GAME OF SERIES SHALL BE DISQUALIFTIED SCORE IF SUBMITTED AVERAGE IS LOWER THAN ACTUAL AVERAGE OR BASE PRIZE WINNING ON SUBMITTED AVERAGE, IF IT IS HIGHER THAN ACTUAL AVERAGE. Rule319a-4 allows for corrections of an entrant’s entering average up to the end of the entrant’s first game. The tournament can authorize (in writing) entrants to submit corrected average up to 48 hours after the end of the series.
• HANDICAP: Handicap shall be based on 80 percent of 220 and subtract one’s average to find a handicap. (80% of 220). Men’s handicap shall not exceed 56 pins per games in team, single and double events. Women’s handicap shall not exceed 72 pins per game in team, single and double events.
• PRIZES returned 100% in prizes. Prizes are paid to the handicap winners based in the following ratios based on 10 teams one: four for all events. If it is less 10 teams, then ratio will be one: three for all events. Prize fees are $100.00 per team, $50.00 for double, $25.00 single, $6.00 all-events, and $10.00 all-events for senior citizen. There are no prizes for any actual events except for Charlotte Louis Teets $20.00. Winning prizes will be distribution after the tournament ended. Winning prizes will be mailed within 30 days.
• TEAM UNISEX: A bowler is permitted bowl once each four-people team, double, single, Gerald Musick Master, and James Ennis Senior Citizen Master. Team can be 4 men or 4 women or 3 men with 1 woman or 3 women with 1 man or 2 men and 2 women. Double can be 2 men or 2 women or 1 man and 1 woman.
• We reserve the right to schedule each team, double, and individual to make necessary changes and/or refuse any entries.
• Use any abrasives on bowling balls during the tournament will result in disqualification. PBA members are not permitted to enter in any events. Former PBA must report to WVDBA secretary at the captain meeting or write a letter. Once one reports to the WVDBA secretary, one shall have to wait for 3 (three) years for eligibility to play in the WVDBA tournament.
• DRESS CODE: Clean (almost like new) jeans, clean short, clean capri, and nice shirt with/without collar are permitted. T-shirt, tank tops, hole in pants, jogging pants, and caps or hats are not allowed while bowling. CAPTAIN IS RESPONSIBLE TO CHECK HIS/HER TEAM. See WVDBA officer if one is not sure. First offense will result in a warning. Second offense will result in disqualification.
• PROTEST: Rule 329, protests involving eligibility or playing rules must be made to tournament management in writing within the time limits in Rule 329. The decision of tournament management will be final unless a written appeal is filed with USBC Headquarters within the time limits in Rule 329. Entries shall be mailed with a money order or cashier's check for total amount of the entry fee. Entries must be postmarked by midnight by February 10, 2024. Last minutes entries will have to take what is left in the scheduling.
GERALD W. MUSICK MASTER HANDICAP RULES
• Tournament will use the West Virginia Deaf Bowling Association rules and regulations to govern tournament play. It is up to the WVDBA to decide whether to hold this tournament.
• Bowlers must be entered in the WVDBA tournament in the teams, doubles, and singles. We will cancel your master tournament entry and the prize list if you have not entered the WVDBA tournament.
• It shall be the responsibility of each bowler to check the line-up board for his/her starting lanes and bowling time.
• The prizes estimates will be revised according to the number of entries.
• The prizes fee returned 100% prizes. The ratio will be ¼.
• 80% of 220 with exceed of 120 pins (40 pins per game).
• All participants will bowl three games.
JAMES ENNIS SENIOR CITIZEN MASTER HANDICAP RULES
• A bowler age at least 50 can participation this tournament.
• Tournament will use the West Virginia Deaf Bowling Association rules and regulations to govern tournament play. It is up to the WVDBA to decide whether to hold this tournament.
• Bowlers must be entered in the WVDBA tournament in the teams, doubles, and singles. We will cancel your master tournament entry and the prize list if you have not entered the WVDBA tournament.
• Qualification round will be based on team total. Top four scores will play for tournament.
• The prizes fee returned 100% prizes. The ratio will be ¼.
• 80% of 220 with exceed of 120 pins (40 pins per game).
