CEED Membership Application
We are excited to consider your application to the Rutgers Center for Environmental Exposure and Disease (CEED). The mission of CEED is to promote health and reduce environmental disease by identifying and modifying interactions between the host, environmental toxicants, psychosocial stressors, and social determinants, as well as amplifiers (e.g., climate change, microbiome, etc.) that may decrease resilience or exacerbate adverse health effects. We are funded by a P30 Grant from the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS/NIH) to provide infrastructure, training, services, and community connections for our members. If you have any questions about this application, please contact Kristin Borbely at kb570@eohsi.rutgers.edu.

Which scientific research core would you like to participate in? Select all that apply.
*
Pathogenesis of Environmental Disease: Research in this core centers on mechanisms and modulators of disease and toxicity (inflammation, epigenetics, genetics, toxicokinetics, and microbiome) across organ systems including pulmonary toxicology, reproductive and developmental toxicology, neurotoxicology, nephrotoxicology, dermal and ocular toxicology
Climate Change, Public Health, and Sustainability: This core has developed a framework for detailed characterization of the physicochemical and toxicological properties of environmental nanoparticles generated from fossil fuel combustion and wildfires as well as microcystins/mycotoxins, and provide a foundation for health risk assessment and hazard mitigation approaches in the emerging climate science space
Population Exposures and Outcomes: This core uses epidemiology, exposure assessment, controlled clinical experiments, and modeling to examine relationships between chemicals and human disease. Core members represent diverse fields (from bench to community-engaged research) and has fostered capacity for bidirectional exchange of ideas across the translational continuum.
Which facility cores are you interested in learning more about? We will have someone reach out to you to learn more.
*
Translational Research Support Core (TRSC) - Coordination of Human-Related Studies including IRB Protocol Services
Biological/Environmental Indicators & Responses - Flow Cytometry/Confocal/Live Cell Imaging/Axioscan Slidescanner/Seahorse Metabolism
Human and Animal Exposure (HUMANE) - Run Animal and Human Controlled Exposures
Chemical and Analytical Detection (CAD) - Quantify EndogenLC/GC/ICP-MS/Metabolite Profiles/Rapid Response
Modeling Environmental Exposures and Disease (MEED)
In 2-3 sentences, please describe how your research, activities, or service is related to environmental health sciences.
