A Commercial Use Permit (CUP) is required for anyone conducting commercial activities (as defined in 11 AAC 12.340(19) within any unit of the State Park system. Examples of commercial activities include guided activities, charter services, transportation services, outfitting, supply, or equipment sales or rentals within a park.
A person may not provide commercial activities services within the Kenai River Special Management Area without first obtaining a valid Kenai River permit issued by the Division. This permit is only valid for the calendar year in which it was issued. Requirements for a Kenai River Rental Boat permit can be found under 11 AAC 20.890.
Please completely fill out the application below. You must include copies of the following:
• A Certificate of Commercial Liability Insurance with the State of Alaska as additionally insured (see General Stipulation #3 formore details).
• Rental boat businesses are required to administer the Watercraft Rental Orientation to persons renting boats for use on the Kenai River. A copy of the form, which was developed to provide a standardized operator orientation is enclosed in the permit stipulations. Before customers operate your rental boat on the Kenai River, you must familiarize them with the items listed and sign and date the watercraft rental orientation form. The boat operator must carry the completed form on-board while boating on the Kenai River and will be required to present this proof of orientation at the request of a law enforcement officer. A copy of the completed form must also be maintained at your place of business.
• Please ensure that your boats have all the necessary safety equipment, current state boat registration and numbering, and proper rental vessel identification that include your business name and two-digit number.
Only complete applications will be processed. Allow 30 days for permit processing. Instructions for payment will be sent via email after the Department has reviewed your application.
Permit Fees:
• A non-refundablepermit applicationprocessingfee of $100
• Annual permit fee of $350
• Annual fee of $200 per rental boat (excluding kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards)
