  • Grants are made possible through funding from the Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) and the City of Burlington. Grants are awarded by the City of Burlington through the NPP Façade Grant Program, with a limit of up to $5,000 of reimbursement per building (pending availability of funds). This is a reimbursement grant payable when all work is completed and inspected as appropriate. Any costs above the cap are the sole responsibility of the Property Owner. 

  • The New London NPP District is bordered by:

    • Washington Ave to the west (both sides of the street)
    • Broad Street (south side of the street, from Washington to Lawrence St.; north side from Wood St to Stacy St.)
    • High Street (both sides of High St. from Pearl St. to Federal St., then west side to Wilber Watts School border)
    • Kennedy Park to the south (the park is within the district)
  • You are not eligible at this time.

    Eligible properties must be within the New London District of Burlington, NJ. Applicants must be able to submit:

    • proof of ownership, such as a deed or tax records
    • proof of insurance in good standing on the property
    • proof all taxes are current
    • proof all mortgage payments are current

    Applicants who cannot provide proof of the above or quotes for proposed work are ineligible for this grant.  

  • You may be eligible for an NPP Residential Façade (Home Revitalization) Grant. 

    Through the NPP grant program, the City of Burlington partners with Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey to complete home revitalization work in the New London neighborhood (pending availability of funding). This home preservation program is designed to revitalize communities through improvements to home exteriors, including:

    • Carpentry repairs (doors, porches, steps)
    • Painting (siding, gutter repair, or power washing)
    • General cleaning (trash removal, cleaning of exterior debris)
    • Accessibility modifications (wheelchair ramp, exterior handrails)
    • Landscaping (cutting down brush, cutting back shrubbery, planting flowers and bushes)

    Laura typically reviews the repairs requested and any necessary paperwork before scheduling a day/time for Habitat to come to your house to discuss the scope of work and a timetable.

  • You may be eligible for an NPP Commercial Façade Grant.

    Please note that this is not proof of eligibility or entitlement to grant funds. All application materials are subject to review and must be approved by the grantor. 

    Eligible improvements may include:

    • Uncovering and restoring historic facades and storefronts
    • Removing existing damaged or poor-quality facade materials
    • Replacing damaged or poor-quality materials with more appropriate and attractive design materials
    • Replacing signs (both projecting and sign bands) and awnings
    • Replacing or adding exterior lighting
