Dutch artist Anne Horjus was raised in a small village near the Wadden Sea, the Northern province of the Netherlands known as Friesland. Anne, pronounced Ann-uh, is an old fashioned Friesian boy’s name. Anne was classically trained as singer (theater/opera/art song) at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
As visual artist Anne has been active in a variety of freelance projects including landscapes, portraits, art installations, murals, theater sets, woodcarvings, puppet building, storytelling, and writing. He has illustrated several children’s picture books in The Netherlands, Belgium, and the U.S.A. Anne was a children’s library program coordinator and an author for the Collaborative Summer Library Program Manual, which is distributed to public libraries in all 50 states. He is a frequently asked workshop host for literacy-related youth programming for library systems and school districts.
Since 2022 Anne has been a full-time artist. You can check out his work at www.annehorjus.com.
