Alton T. Bost Youth Community Service Award was established in his memory in 2013.  Alton’s service to God, the church and community often focused on the youth. He spent time encouraging youth to make choices that would have a positive impact on their lives and community.

He spent a lot of time counseling young people, helping and finding ways to provide school supplies, giving words of encouragement, and of course, when possible giving them break on poor decisions that would have negatively impacted their lives
He also went the extra mile to ensure that children and families in need had the basics such as food, clothing and utilities. In addition to basic needs, Alton was known for being the neighborhood “Santa”. It was not uncommon to see him delivering toys and bicycles to children in the community that may not have had much of a Christmas.

Alton served in church in many ways. He served as van driver on Sundays and special trips. He was part of the Men’s Club, Harvest Home Committee, advisor to the Emergency Response Team, and a supporter of the youth activities.
