MARRIAGE AND NIKAH SERVICES
Family life is the building block of a successful society, and marriage is an occasion of great joy in the Muslim community. Hounslow Jamia Masjid facilitates the solemnisation of an Islamic contract of marriage. The newly-married couple are provided with an official ‘Nikah’ certificate to show they have been married according to Islamic Law.
The Nikah fee is currently £200 if carried out within the Masjid and £300 if carried out outside the Masjid. Civil Marriage & Nikah £450.00
We recommend that Nikah is booked at least 3 weeks prior to the planned date. Please also be aware that the summer months are a busy time for Nikah ceremonies so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Documents and information required before Nikah for both spouses to be:
-Passport or Driving Licence – we need your valid UK passport or UK driving licence as a photo ID
-Proof of Address – we need your current utility bill or bank statement as a proof of address in the UK
Other documents if applicable
If already married under UK law - Civil Marriage Certificate
If previously married - Divorce Decree Absolute / Talaq confirmation
Widow/Widower – Former spouses’ death certificate.
Birth Certificates – For the Bride and Bridegroom. If names have changed the Original copy of the Deed Poll. Divorcees – Decree Absolute & Talak Documents in accordance with Islamic Sharia.
If new Muslim (revert)- Conversion certificate
Date of Nikah
Preferred Time – Hounslow Jamia Masjid will do their utmost to meet preferred times, however, there will be occasions when this may not be possible. We will communicate this accordingly
Civil Marriage
We are one of the only Mosques in the UK to offer English civil marriages within the Mosque in addition to the Islamic Nikah. We have authorised registrars in this regard. Please note if you would like the civil marriage also to conducted you would in the first instance need to contact the local registrar office who would provide you a blue authorisation slip which will need to be presented to the Mosque before proceeding. We recommend you do this before settling on a date for your ceremony
Haq-ul-Mahr
Please make arrangements for Haq-ul-Mahr to be stipulated on the day of the marriage
Witnesses
Please arrange for the following persons to be present at the time of the Nikah
-Wali- Bride’s father, brother, uncle etc.
-Two Muslim male witnesses

The Management of Hounslow Jamia Masjid (HJM) wishes to congratulate prospective couples who wish to marry in accordance with Islamic law (Nikah).
The appointed Head Imam of HJM performs all Nikah ceremonies which take place in conjunction with Hounslow Jamia Masjid.
A Nikah is not recognised as a valid marriage under English law
The following provides a brief overview of the HJM Nikah booking process.
1. Booking Form. This is provided below. We recommend that bookings are made at least three weeks prior to the planned date.
2. Booking Fee. Full details of the fees are set out below on the Booking form. These are to be paid in advance for all bookings. The receipt is to be provided by the person authorised by the Mosque to accept payment (either the Imam or a Trustee).
3. Documents required have been outlined above. The originals are to be brought on the agreed date of the Nikah ceremony.
4. Venue: The Nikah and/or civil marriage will be conducted in the library or Imam office depending on the attendee list. The first hour of the duration in the library is free, thereafter £50 per hour. No backdrop, design work is permitted in the library. Should you require a larger room or hall, this can be privately hired. All persons attending the ceremony are kindly requested to observe the Islamic tradition of dressing in keeping with Islamic values. The management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone who does not comply with this request.
5. We do not conduct Civil marriages outside of the Masjid
5. If the Nikah is held at a reisdential address, it is expected that consideration for the transportation of the Imam to/ from the venue is made
**IMPORTANT**
It is out of courtesy that you honour the time on the booking form. Our Imams and registrars are extremely busy and take time out to assist in the conducting of the marriage ceremonies. It is an unfortunate trend in that people put a time on the form only to arrive much later. If the applicants do not arrive up to 30 minutes after the stipulated time we reserve the right to cancel the booking with no refund provided. This would be at no fault of the management of the Mosque.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) Hounslow Jamia Masjid is also registered to solemnise marriages in accordance with English law
2) Any second marriages are not in accordance with English law. As such we are not in a position to conduct such marriages. By completing the booking form and proceeding with the Nikah, you are confirming none of the parties involved are already married.
