  • About SEIMA

    Purpose

    Where Environmental Stakeholders Meet

    Vision

SEIMA is a recognized and respected association of businesses and individuals involved in responsible environmental practice in Saskatchewan, providing high-value services to its growing list of members and actively supporting their professional and business growth aspirations.

    Mission

SEIMA facilitates the exchange of information and ideas among our members and other industry contacts.

    Values

We hold a high level of respect and integrity in our relationship with our members, which includes its Directors and Officers, staff, stakeholders, and the general public.

SEIMA is directed by a volunteer Board of industry practitioners and stakeholders who have a duty of upholding our by-laws with the assistance of standing Committees. Our Board of 9 members includes representatives from industry, consulting, and government who participate in monthly virtual meetings of approximately one hour in length during business hours. Additionally, each board member is expected to lead and/or participate in one or more committees (e.g., Programs, Membership). Asynchronous communication is expected between board meetings. Directors are expected to participate in the SustainTech conference and other social or technical events at their own cost; although some costs may be subsidized by SEIMA.

Board terms are for three (3) years, with the option to seek election for up to two (2) consecutive terms, or more for those serving on the Executive Committee.  This year, we are seeking to elect two people to fill Director roles that have reached its end of term. Note that one Board member has elected to seek nomination for a second term.

SEIMA seeks a diverse range of skills and experiences in board members, such as:

    • Leadership
    • Experience in industry, government, consulting, or academia
    • Finance
    • Risk management
    • Strategy development
    • Corporate governance
    • Ethics and compliance
    • Marketing

We encourage those with diverse gender identities and orientations, disabilities, visible minorities, or from geographies outside of Saskatoon to consider applying.

The board encourages you to seek two letters of support, provide a short biography, and to provide a description of why you want to join the Board, including skills and experience that you will bring to the role.  Note that the biography and the letter describing why you want to join the board will be distributed to the membership to help them decide who to elect.
