  • Section A: Student Information

  •  - -
  • To be clear on the limits of the Catchment Area, please see if your child's primary residence is within the boundaries, outlined on the Deparment's map. You can find it by clicking here.

  • Autism Class

  • Clarification for parents:

The sole purpose of this question is to know whether or not you wish to have your child's name included in the enrolment process for our Autism classes, that will allocate places according to the Admissions Policy including the establishment of a waiting list for spaces that may emerge in the coming year.

This process takes place in early November of the previous year. If you are offered a place in the school after the waiting list has been created, and you request a space in the special classes, your child's name will be added to the end of the waiting list.

Please note that your child's recommendation (as oppposed to their diagnosis) for a place in an Autism class must have been made within the last two years, to be considered valid by the National Council for Special Education. Both it and a diagnostic report must be submitted, for an application to the Special Class to be considered complete and valid.

  • In this case, we cannot consider your application for a place in our Autism classes.

  • Please note:

Once the Initial Enrolment Period has passed, offers will be made for available places in the mainstream setting.

In early November, a waiting list will be created for any places that emerge in the Autism classes during the 25/26 academic year. Those offered places in the first round will be included in the process to determine this list. The process will follow the criteria, outlined in our Admissions Policy.

Thusfar demand has exceeded supply, so we strongly urge parents to demand ensured access to an Autism class, via their SENO, in order to ensure access for your child.

The Minister can, but has not yet, instruct any school in Cork to open Autism classes at short notice. This need is obvious to all affected parents.
