New volunteer orientations are held March - October
What to expect: We are a rescue and sanctuary that focuses on nonrideable equines. We DO NOT have any type of riding or mounted horsework opportunities available, ever! Typical volunteer activities include mucking stalls, general cleaning, and filling waters. Only after completion of a MANDATORY orientation and several supervised shifts, additional duties could include grooming, leading, feeding and/or working with horses.
- Prior experience with large animals is NOT required
- Volunteers should plan to regularly commit two hours per week (there are quarterly open work days for volunteers who cannot commit to weekly service)
- The horses we accept often have significant emotional, behavioral and/or physical trauma. We expect volunteers to treat them with kindness and respect
