May we request the following information to ensure we are compliant in federal regulations. These are two simple steps, which may require you to reach out to the mill or source of the cover. This information does not need to be color specific, simply the same pattern.
- If YES, we CANNOT PROCEED as Flame Retardants (chemicals) are banned in the United States
- Alternative is to order the piece upholstered in Muslin (same as barrier fabric), a Grade 1 cover and you re-upholster in your COM.
- If NO, once confirmation is obtained, please proceed to step 2.
Please provide documentation from the mill/source.
A simple letter or screen shot from the website will suffice stating no Flame Retardants were used.
2. Does the COM pass the flammability test without Flame Retardants CAL TB117-2013?
- If YES, we can proceed with the COM process
- If NO, we use the barrier fabric to ensure the COM is compliant. Please note there are styles where the barrier cloth may not be used (specifically tufted and tight seat frames).
- Alternative is to order the piece upholstered in Muslin (same as barrier fabric), a Grade 1 cover and you re-upholster in your COM.
Please provide the FR certificate, which is the lab/mill test confirming the fabric meets CAL TB 117-2013 criteria. This can be obtained via mail/source.
