Please find below a summary of the Sport North Development Grant.
To qualify for funding, the following eligibility conditions must be met:
a) The TSO must be a member of Sport North Federation.
b) The organization must be considered in good standing by the NWT Societies.
c) The funding must be spent by December 31st 2025
d) You agree that within one month of the program/project completed you will provide receipts from the program/project equal to the funding provided, and a report that outlines participation numbers etc. Any unspent funding will be returned to Sport North.
Complete a maximum of 7 program applications, each application representing a different program.
1) Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) Program
Funding Amount Available: $10,000.00
Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) funding provides financial assistance to acquire, build, purchase, repair, renovate, upgrade or expand sports, recreational, facilities.
CFEP outcomes are to enhance the lifespan and support the creation of public-use community facilities across the NWT.
2) TSO Hosting Program
Funding Amount Available: $5000.00
The Hosting Grant is for amateur championship events that contribute to building community pride and encouraging community interaction and spirit.
· The event must be a sanctioned Territorial, National or Western Canadian Championship.
· The event must be designated as the only event where a Territorial, Western Canadian or National Champion will be determined.
· An official letter of endorsement from the respective Territorial, National or Western association must accompany the application.
· The event must be open to public spectators; and
· The event must occur in the Northwest Territories.
· Prize money cannot be provided from the funding.
*A Territorial Sport Organization is eligible to receive one grant for the duration of the SNF Development Grant Program.
3) TSO HPP/ID Program
Funding Amount Available: $2000.00
Funding for athletes to attend selection camps outside of the NWT.
Funding does not cover athletes who wish to return to the NWT to attend trials or camps for AWG, CWG, CSG or NAIG.
4) TSO Technology Upgrade Support Program
Funding Amount Available: $2000.00
Funding to upgrade Tech. support/equipment including TSO Website enhancements and website maintenance training. This equipment or training support can include: video trainings/modules, score/time clocks, zoom memberships.
5) TSO Sport Governance Support Program
Funding Amount Available: $3500.00
Funding to provide legal and leadership solutions to TSO’s, examples of the following services are:
Leadership coaching and human relations support Legal Services, Governance and Risk Management, Planning and Financial consulting
· Communications, Crisis Management, Media Relations, and Marketing support
· Inclusive Solutions related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Safe Sport
6) TSO Women & Girls in Sport Support Program
Funding Amount Available: $2000.00
Funding to promote and deliver sport leadership and empowerment programs in the areas of Women and Girls, with preference for access by sister TSOs.
7) TSO Truth & Reconciliation Education and Training
Funding Amount Available: $2000.00
Funding to promote and deliver Truth and Reconciliation education and training programs to address the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action related to sport and recreation.
