CALL FOR ENTRY: FACULTY SHOWCASE

A showcase of the artistic talent of University of Cincinnati faculty, this juried exhibition seeks works by faculty and emeriti from all UC colleges and disciplines.

CALENDAR

o   October 6-9: The call for artist submissions will go out.

o   November 16: Cut-off date for artist submissions.

o   November 20: Judging process will begin.

o   December 8: Final decisions will be completed.

o   December 11 - 15: Artists will be notified regarding acceptance.

o   January 8, 2024: Semester begins.

o   January 16 – 18, 2024: Artist will deliver selected artwork to Reed Gallery.

o   January 29 – March 7: Artwork displayed in Reed Gallery

o   April 8 – 10: Art in Reed Gallery de-installed and picked up by artists.

GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS

Applications will be accepted from current and emeriti faculty from all UC colleges and disciplines.

Drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, photography, glass, jewelry, furniture, fashion design, and sculpture are eligible for submission. Video, performance, and other time-based pieces are not eligible for this call.

Artworks must be framed/mounted/wired and ready to hang. You may be contacted by the review committee for additional information about presentation of your work.

Artists may enter up to three completed works (one image included from each 2-dimensional work in the application and up to two images from 3-dimensional work). All works entered must have been created within the last five years.

After you submit your artwork, you will be notified of your acceptance into the exhibition by the selection committee. Upon acceptance, you will be required to fill out a loan form, which will be used to confirm your participation, insure your work during the run of the exhibition, and serve as an agreement with the conditions outlined in this prospectus.

The exhibition will be open to the public Monday – Thursday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and be on display January 29 through March 7. Artists are responsible for timely artwork drop-off and pick-up.

The University of Cincinnati reserves the right to photograph and video any submitted work for documentation, educational, and publicity purposes. Artists will retain all copyrights to their work.

IMAGE GUIDELINES

You may submit up to three different artworks. Please submit one image for each 2-D work and up to two images for each 3-D work. Images should be in focus, clean, and clear. If your work is framed, please include an image of the work framed. The work should appear as you would wish it to be reproduced. Images must be of completed work. NO WORK IN PROGRESS.

Images of your work must be in jpg format. The file size should be 300 dpi and close to 2 MB or less.

Jpg files should be named using the following format: FirstName LastName. Entry form number (1, 2, or 3) title of work. Example: SueSmith_1_Big Painting.jpg

SELLING YOUR WORK

The Reed Gallery is unable to sell artwork; however, artists may include a price and sales contact (which could be you or a sales representative you work with) on the submission form. A price list with sales contacts will be at the gallery reception desk so that any patrons interested in purchasing an artwork can purchase it directly through the artist. This allows artists to keep 100% of the sales.

Entry notification: You will receive an email notification by December 15.

DELIVERY & RETURN OF WORK: 

Work must be delivered to the Reed Gallery. If shipping is required, artists are responsible for shipping their work to and from DAAP. Return shipping materials/packing and prepaid shipping labels are required for those artists requesting shipment from DAAP following the exhibition.

LIABILITY

Upon acceptance, you will be required to fill out a loan form, which will be used to confirm your participation, insure your work during the run of the exhibition, and serve as an agreement with the conditions outlined in this prospectus. Through the terms outlined in the loan form, DAAP will provide insurance for all work that is onsite at the exhibition venue for the extent of the exhibition, from drop-off until pick-up. Unclaimed work is not insured after the posted pick-up date. Artists are responsible for insuring work while in transit.
