The purpose of this policy is to establish Skate Like a Girl's intent to have a work environment that is free from solicitation efforts that do not relate to Skate Like a Girl business or interest.
While Skate Like a Girl actively encourages team member participation in community activities and organizations outside of work, the time spent at work is more productive when not interrupted by solicitations and distribution of materials.
Employees/Volunteers/Directors (aka team members) may not solicit on work time (when either the employee, volunteer or the person being solicited is on work time).
Employees/Volunteers/Directors may not distribute any literature or other non-work related materials either on work time or in work areas, except as otherwise provided below.
DEFINITIONS
“Work time” is defined as that time when an employee is scheduled and expected to be properly engaged in performing his/her work tasks. “Work areas” are all areas of Skate Like a Girl except break rooms and other areas designated for non-work use.
I. SOLICITATION AT SKATE LIKE A GIRL
A. Approved:
Skate Like a Girl sponsored activities such as Skate Like a Girl's fundraising campaigns and Wheels of Fortune, or similar activities, programs and events that support the efforts of Skate Like a Girl. Soliciting participation or support for other activities, programs, and events that might further the mission of Skate Like a Girl must be approved by the Skate Like a Girl Board, before being considered an allowable activity under this policy. In addition, solicitations for approved charitable organizations outside of the Skate Like a Girl's fundraising campaign, must first be approved by the Skate Like a Girl Board.
B. Prohibited Solicitation
Unless given explicit consent by supervisor, the following are examples of prohibited activities by staff and volunteers at Skate Like a Girl during work time or in work areas:
• Charity drives
• Trips
• Sports pools
• Cosmetic or jewelry sales
• Bake sales
• Sales of items not related to Skate Like a Girl
• Food vending (other than approved by Skate Like a Girl)
• Proposing and/or procuring membership in any organization
• Proposing and/or procuring attendance and/or participation in programs or events not associated with Skate Like a Girl
• E-mail solicitations
• Commercial or personal business sales
Additionally, solicitation or distribution of literature by any team member for any purpose is not permitted in areas deemed
• Reception areas
• Skate Like a Girl camp, class or event locations during the time of the camp, class or event
• Other areas where distribution would disrupt Skate Like a Girl camps, classes or events
Employees found to be soliciting or distributing literature in violation of this policy will be subject to Performance Management. Volunteers and/or board of directors found to be soliciting or distributing literature that is disruptive to Skate Like a Girl's camps, classes or events, will be asked to stop the solicitation. If the solicitation continues, then Skate Like a Girl may sever ties with the team member.
II. SOLICITATION BY NON-SKATE LIKE A GIRL INDIVIDUALS
A. Solicitation or distribution of literature by non-employees or non-volunteers during Skate Like a Girl camps, classes or events strictly prohibited.
B. Normal business contacts with Skate Like a Girl's officials by authorized representatives are not prohibited by this policy.
C. General news and informational publications for employees, volunteers and participants may be distributed in areas that mav been designated and approved by Skate Like a Girl. III. USE OF SKATE LIKE A GIRL RESOURCES FOR PERMISSIBLE POSTINGS
This policy is intended as a guideline to assist in the consistent application of Skate Like a Girl policies and programs. The policy does not create a contract implied or expressed, with any Skate Like Girl employees, who are employees at will. Further, this policy does not create an employment relationship between any volunteer and Skate Like A Girl. Skate Like a Girl reserves the right to modify this policy in whole or in part, at any time, at the discretion of the organization.
