We are thrilled to welcome you to KR Academy, with winter camps for SNOWBOARD led by highly accredited, Jessie Broster, and Olympic GOLD Medallist, Ross Rebagliati!

All participants MUST register for a Snowboard BC and Snowboard Canada Membership to be insured.  Please go to SNOWBOARD BC MEMBERSHIPS and choose your Club affiliation to KR Academy before filling out this form, as it will ask for your registration number.  Athletes need the basic "Recreational Membership" to Participate in sanctioned programs, and can upgrade to the "Competition Membership" should they choose to compete within Canada.

Seasons Passes to Apex are recommended, and for the Early Bird Pricing, please purchase before October 15th.  https://apexresort.com/

Camps are scheduled at many of the BC Resorts, so the Apex Seasons passes are great to access your reciprocal Mountain passes for these camps days.

We have reserved our Clubhouse again this season in the lobby space of the Apex Mountain Inn!  If anyone wants to contribute to this project, please let us know - looking for sponsorships, assistance with cleaning, snacks, furniture, yoga mats, building false walls...

SNOWBOARD CAMPS   - Camp Based Opportunities 
High energy, skill based snowboard camps led by Jessie Broster, former BC Team gymnast and Head Coach of Big White Snowboard Club, joined by Olympic GOLD Medallist, Ross Rebagliati. 

Jessie is an incredibly skilled rider and coach, with a gymnastics background that compliments her teaching skills and offerings. 

Each 2 day camp is $149 - this does not include transportation, accommodation, lift tickets, lunch or coach costs for travel.  Coach expenses for camps outside of Apex will be billed back and split amongst participants.  It is usually very reasonable when split.  ;-)

 

Camp 1 (on-snow)

What: Early Season Camp- STYLE- all mtn
Ages: 11+
When:  Nov 25,26 -  9am- 3pm
Where:  TBD (Apex or Silverstar)

Focus: On snow assessment, goal setting, strength and team building

Cost: $149
Transportation, lift ticket, and lunch not provided

Camp 2 (on-snow)

What: Holiday Camp- STYLE- terrain park
Ages: 11+
When: Dec. 28, 29- 9am- 3pm
Where: Apex Mountain

Focus: style focus: all mountain riding, terrain park, photo session.

Transportation, lift ticket, and lunch not provided

Camp 3 ( on- Snow)

What: Training Camp- SPEED/ SBX With Olympic Gold Medallist Ross Rebagliati
Ages: 11+
When : Jan 27, 28 - 9am- 3pm
Where: Apex Mountain OR Big White

Focus: speed and snowboardcross

Cost: $149
Transportation, lift ticket, and lunch not provided

 

Camp 4 (on-snow)

What:  Speed and Style with Olympian Tess Critchlow and Jessie Broster
Age: 11+
When : Feb 18th- 9am- 3pm
Where: Baldy Mountain

Focus: SBX and Style

Cost: $99
Transportation, lift ticket, and lunch not provided

 

Camp 5 (on- snow)

What: Training Camp- STYLE- Terrain park
Age: 11+
When: March 19, 20-9am- 3pm
Where: Silverstar 

Focus: style focus: terrain park and airbag

Cost: $149

Camp 6 (on-snow)

What: BC Snowboard Slopestyle and SBX camp
Age: 11+
When: April (3-6 days)
Where: Mount Washington

Focus: a private training opportunity for both SBX and Slopestyle. The resort will be closed to the public, and we will have private access to our training runs. There will be a terrain park built as well as a full SBX track.

Camp 7 (on-snow)

What: The Gathering: Canada Snowboard RAD Program (Riders Advancement and Development Program)

Age: 11+

When: May 8- 11, 2024

Where: Sunshine Village

Focus: multi-discipline training opportunities to Stage 3,4, and 5 Clubs across the country. The goal is to bring together athletes and coaches to ride, have fun & progress on the unique terrain of the Holy Bowly course. In addition to having access to the Holy Bowly set up, participants will also be able to ride the rest of the mountain and the terrain park.

KR Academy Waiver 2023/2024 Season

ALL SNOWBOARD PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A VALID SNOWBOARD BC and SNOWBOARD CANADA MEMBERSHIP

Injury Waiver

I recognize that skiing entails serious risks. Consequently, I relinquish all rights to an appeal of any kind, including the right to an appeal for bodily and material damages, regardless of the cause, against the KR Academy, Freestyle BC, Snowboard BC, Snowboard Canada, Canadian Snowsports Association, Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, Apex Mountain Resort and it's coaches, employees, board members, sponsors, athlete members and volunteers, even if such damages result from negligence.

Without restricting the generality of the preceding, I also relinquish the right to any appeal against the KR Academy, Freestyle BC, Snowboard BC, Canadian Snowsports Association, Snowboard Canada, Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, Apex Mountain Resort and it's coaches, employees, board members, sponsors, athlete members and volunteers resulting from a decision on their part, regardless of the nature of this decision.

RISK OF INVERTS:

This waiver is to authorize Aerials/Inverts by parent or Guardian if registrant is less than 18 years of age. This authorization is only valid and supported if the athlete is supervised and is already registered and qualified by the respective NSO, PSO and Club to perform the specific trick. This qualification process and the athlete certification to perform such inverts on certain venues must be signed off and registered by a qualified Air 3 or 4 certified Freestyle Canada Coach for each Air Pathway level, dictating whether the athlete is qualified on water ramp, airbag, on-snow or for competition. An athlete in the Freestyle Canada Air Pathway or Snowboard Pathway cannot perform unqualified inverts outside of Freestyle Canada, Snowboard BC, Snowboard Canada or KR Academy Sanctioned venues.

Photo Consent

I authorize the KR Academy and/or its staff, associates, assistants, or subcontractors to use photograph(s), video and other media image provided for any promotional,
educational or other pertinent uses.
I also agree to KR Academy using any images of the named minor(s) gathered by photographers, and or videographers supplying images to KR Academy

I authorize KR Academy to permit the use and display of photographs and/or recordings of the named minors in any publication, multimedia production, including video and web usage, display, or advertisement.
I agree that KR Academy may use name, likeness, or information supplied by the undersigned. The undersigned releases and forever discharges KR Academy, its agents, officers and employees from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of said photographs / recordings, including but not limited to, any claims for invasion of privacy or defamation.
I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT AND I AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS
TERMS. I AM AWARE THAT BY SIGNING THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL

RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS, ASSIGNS AND REPRESENTATIVES MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEES

Athlete Statement

I believe that the true essence of sport is to strive for personal achievement and excellence through full and honest effort.

I am committed to participating in sport with integrity, and to striving to win only by legitimate means.

I pledge to learn, understand, and adhere to both the written rules of my sport and the accepted rules of fair play.

I believe that violence and physical intimidation are harmful to sport, and I refuse to use such tactics in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage.

I understand that officials, teammates, and opponents are all integral to sport and worthy of my respect. It is my responsibility to maintain self-control. I will accept officials' decisions without arguments, compete aggressively but without hostility, and behave graciously in triumph or defeat.

Respect for Others

I agree to act with respect toward all those I come into contact with through sport. This means I refrain from comments or behaviours that are abusive, offensive, racist, sexist or otherwise belittling or demeaning to others.

I do not harass or tolerate harassment by others.
I respect others as persons and treat them with dignity.
I respect the privacy of others.
I do not endanger the safety of others through my actions.

Respect for Self
I act with fairness and integrity in the pursuit of excellent sport. I practice drug-free sport and accept doping control.
I avoid the abuse of alcohol and illegal drugs.
Respect for Sport
I strive for personal excellence in sport.
I honour and respect the spirit and traditions of sport.
I do not impede the preparation for competition of other competitors or teammates. I respect the decisions of judges and officials. I promote drug-free sport.

Respect for KR Academy

I accept the rules, policies and procedures of KR Academy, Freestyle BC, Freestyle Canada, or Snowbaord BC/Snowboard Canada governing events and competitions in which I participate.

I comply with the reasonable requests of officials of KR Academy, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (“CFSA”) and, or International Ski Federation (“FIS”).

I accept that I am an ambassador for freestyle skiing or snowboarding and KR Academy

I refrain from any action which might bring the sport of freestyle skiing or snowboarding or KR Academy’s reputation into disrepute.

Respect for Property

I respect the property and livelihood of others, which means refraining from vandalism, theft, and other forms of mischief.

Compliance

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the Discipline Policy of KR Academy. Such action may result in the member losing the privileges that come from membership in KR Academy, including the opportunity to participate in KR Academy, Snowboard BC, Snowboard Canada, Freestyle BC, FIS, Freestyle Canada or NorAm events.
