The Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) will contribute to the increased costs associated with providing sporting activity in 2023. A third phase of the Scheme is now open, the Eligibility period will relate to increased costs sustained between September 1st 2022 and July 31st 2023.The eligibility period of this Scheme will extend to the end of May 2023. Athletics Clubs Affiliated to Athletics Ireland can now apply for:
(a) Any additional support required for increased energy costs from September 2022 to May 2023.
(b) Support towards the increased costs of energy for the months of June 2023 and July 2023.
The information requested below is required by Sport Ireland so they can determine the level of energy funding Sport Ireland is prepared to allocate to Athletics Ireland for dissemination to clubs.
The purpose of this funding is to support sporting organisations with the rising energy costs assocaited with the provision of sport. General costs of living increases including increased costs of accomodation, rent and labour are not eligible.
As per Government direction, fuel costs associated with machinery, vechicles, travel or transport do not qualify
Non energy related increases or pre-exisiting debts or deficits are also ineligible
Organisations applying for support must own/lease the sporting facilities and/or be the primary utility bill payer
The Scheme is aimed at supporting Clubs in the Republic of Ireland only. The Scheme also does not cover Private/Commercial gyms, pools & sports facilities (Private/commercial enterprises are eligible to apply for TBESS), Local authority facilities, School or Third level sports facilities.
