What to Expect:
The annual Fall Lantern Walk is a magical tradition, designed to help kids and grown ups alike welcome the darkness of winter and embrace this natural change with joy.
During the event, we will start by forming a circle and sing songs about lanterns, light, nature and hope. Click here to download your own Lantern Walk song sheet and familiarize yourself with the songs.
Please bring one or more lantern(s) per group. If you are currently without a lantern, you can turn an empty jar into a gorgeous lantern! There are many variations online so you can make it in any way you want. Or you can choose to not make a lantern at all and simply use a flashlight or camping lantern or any other source of gentle light. We will provide tea lights to make any lantern you bring glow.
After our opening circle, we will slowly walk together with our lanterns as the darkness descends. The path is paved around the perimeter of a large field. Families opt to walk one or two laps depending on how their crew feels.
