  • YMT CASUAL VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT

    YMT Casual Volunteer Values:
    - Passion for evangelization
    - Love & respect for young people
    - Commitment to providing a child safe ministry environment

    YMT Mission Statement…
YMT’s mission is to embrace a Christian community lifestyle and to bear witness to the power and relevance of the Gospel to high school students, creating the context for each of them to encounter Christ personally.

    Who are YMT Casual Workers?

YMT Casual Volunteers are champion brothers & sisters who voluntarily make themselves available to assist YMT fulfill its mission.  Over the years, YMT Casual Volunteers have made an essential contribution to God’s work through the Team through a variety of ways including driving buses, cooking on weekends, assisting in schools ministry or helping at the Team’s youth group.  Casual Workers are often former team members, those considering a year on Team, parents of team members or YD’s, Community brothers or sisters, or just friends of YMT.

(YD = Young Disciples. YD is a term used to refer to high school students who regularly associate with YMT at youth group, camps, and other events)

Your responsibilities as a YMT Casual Worker

While it is a great blessing for YMT to have the assistance of casual volunteers, ultimately it is a privilege for any of us to be engaged in this work of ministering to young people.

In light of this, we would ask that you commit to the following:

    1. To serve under the direction and leadership of the Team Manager or his/her nominee.
    2. To observe all YMT policies & procedures especially with regard to Work, Health & Safety and Child Protection protocols (see below).
    3. Under no circumstances is it permissible for you to post images of young people on social media.
    4. Under no circumstances is it permissable for you to be alone with a young person. 'Alone' constitutes any space where you are not in view of others, whether indoors, outdoors, in a car etc.
    5. Be actively involved and present to the ministry being undertaken. The events you will be assisting with are designed as a service to the young people - you should not view them as an opportunity for social catch-ups or “hanging out” with your friends, teamies, etc.
    6. To seek to be a positive and up-building presence amongst the team and YD’s.
    7. To be aware of the need to live out Gospel values in your personal life in order to be a credible witness.
